Absolutely love mine Matt! If the preload is set on this suspension the ride is superb. Best factory HD suspension i have ridden ever.

Got my 24 roadglide for a steal from a guy that said he couldn't get comfortable on it after 400 miles. Got it home, checked the suspension and it was bottomed out from the factory. Perfect ride now😁

Great video and information. Something to keep in mind. Over miles and time the right side will pick up grit and dirt in the threads. Clean them before adjusting them. The threads are very fine and forcing the adjuster nut and lock ring could damage the threads.

Thanks Matt. I've enjoyed your vacationing road trip videos for a while. This is the first technical video I've watched. I just bought a new 2024 Street Glide Friday and put 600 miles on it over the weekend. I noticed the rear suspension was really harsh. Im over 6'2" and fully geared up about 255l/260 lbs. Plus probably 10-15 lbs of gear in the hard bags. When I followed your directions and loosened the top ring, it broke free as you described. But then when I went to loosen it to the top, no movement. I thought it was stuck or cross threaded. Then I realized it was all the way to the top already. Absolutely no pre load set. So I set it to 16mm. Gonna take it out for a ride and I'm guessing that should change things a lot. Once again thanks for your help and great videos.
@MattLaidlaw3 ай бұрын
Yea at your size you need some pre-load! It should help a lot once you set it correctly.

@@MattLaidlaw nNght and day difference. Put 200 more miles on today and it was a dramatic difference. On a side note, do you have any idea or knowledge when Saddleman will have a Road sofa seat available for the 2024 Road and Street Glides? The dealerships here have no idea. Just curious if you had the inside scoop. Thanks again.

Nice video. Dealerships should just make those part of the initial purchase price experience. When your shelling out $25k-$52K for a new ride, this should be done for free.

I find the solid mount heim joints on the ohlins offer a rigid ride. I was really comfortable on the stock suspension until I installed the aftermarket set up, it’s consistent on the rebound and gives a great response input. My personal favourite is the cornering rigidity. Love the channel,great content Matt!….. This just goes to show not every Harley needs cash to be better just some time patience and the proper set up for riding styles.

Matt, great video, even though I don't have a 2024 bike yet, I still watched it for future reference. Related question: I have a 2022 Road Glide Special and I recently bought and installed the HD Screamin' Eagle/Öhlins Remote Reservoir Rear Shocks (to be honest, mostly because I like the way they look). So here's my question (hopefully it's not a dumb question): where would you suggest I go if I want to have someone adjust them properly for me? I have looked at the owner's manual and several KZbin videos, and It's just not making sense to me. I'm kind of a new rider (been riding for only 3 years) and I don't really understand preload, compression damping and rebound damping. Again, love your videos, I'm a big fan of your videos, especially your road trip ones, hoping to see you guys up here in Seattle some day. I've even been down to Laidlaw's 2 years ago and met you and some of the guys.

If you're not carrying any extra weight, do you keep the hydraulic adjuster on the left completely backed off at zero?

Thank you again Matt. Do you not having damping adjusters also on the bottom of both shocks? My 23 CVO does. Makes a big difference in the ride.

Thanks for the videos. I like the info you’re putting out. Question though, is there a way on these new 24 models to remove the speed limiter without using an aftermarket tuner? I don’t wanna void my warranty but 102 after the software update won’t let me keep up with the friends I ride with. Haha

Great video Matt Did you happen to do a video on the 24 infotainment center? Gotta 24 CVO Legendary Orange delivered yesterday and after spending several hrs with it I got frazzled , yeah but come to find out in aux mode the volume on the radio would only let me go about a quarter of the way up in volume! Stock shocks are built to accommodate a wide range of riders. They are also not the best quality. Although you may be able to tweek the ride comfort, nothing compares to shocks built by a shock company that are built for a specific rider.

I have the 2024 Street Glide and I must admit that the new suspension is much better than the old suspension with only 2" of travel. I just wish that HD had designed a means of adjusting the right shock without that cheap knuckle busting spanner. It is a terrible adjustment tool.

Matt, I think you have the measurement wrong. The book says from the top of the top ring to the bottom of the bottom ring. Not the space in between. That's probably a 3 or 4 mm difference. That's the way I read it...
@scotttarentino68924 ай бұрын
Matt has it right. I just picked up my new RG and I will say the way they word it is confusing but it's the space between the rings. It states "the distance from the top of the adjustment ring to the bottom of the lock ring". The adjustment ring is the bottom one so the top of that to the bottom of the lock ring, which is the top. Would've been easier if they just said "the open space between the two rings."
@BobinNH3 ай бұрын
@scotttarentino6892 yeah I totally agree. I adjusted mine a little more than the book says fir my weight. I gotta say, I love the the suspension. Maybe next year I'll think about upgrading it. A legend suspension would definitely be a worthy upgrade. I'm riding it for a year before I do that. Heck, I haven't even touched the exhaust yet. That , I'll probably do in rhe Spring.

I just bought a R1250 RT "road touring" motorcycle with ESA. It's nice to have electronic self adjusting suspension. It just works. Kinda hurt, letting the HD go. Try a GSA instead of a Pan America, sometime. Get some exposure to broaden your horizons.
