New exhaust, air intake, bars ,seat, luggage racks, mirrors, grips maybe upgraded suspension.......then buy another stock bike ????

Both nice bikes, but one more point for SG being 811lbs vs. RG 838lbs, both bikes in running order, full of fuel. +27.lbs mounted up high for fairing & mtg hardware may be noticeable at slow speeds and raising bike up from side stand.

I had the opposite reaction. I looked at the 24's. The styling will take years to get used to for me. The build quality felt a little cheap. The taillights move when you open the bag. The dash isn't painted like mine. I've got about 20K in addons and sucn on my bike I feel even more confortable now, keeping my paid off 2018, not giving it away on a trade-in, and starting over with a 2024. I think my 2018 is going to be a bike I keep for the duration of my riding hobby. I only ride 4 or 5 thousand miles a year anyway. I've finally got it dialed in. I can see why you upgrade because you're a dealer.

I rode a Street Glide across the country, thought 14 stated in the first year I had it. I loved it. The wind between the bikes, with the right seat and right windshield, wind in not a factor. I went with the Road Glide, for one of the reasons you did, the fairing storage. My GoPro fits in there a lot better and it's easy to grab while riding. As always, great video. I went with the RG 2024 from a 2017 SGS. I test rode the RG after I did the purchase. I liked both. Overall, I feel the RG is easier to handle and not as front heavy as the SGS. Both are the same for my vertical challenged frame. Suspension is crap as usual even when sag and everything is set. It just kills my back and a suspension upgrade is in the near future. KW exhaust is first due to the factory exhaust is not up to par.

Good to hear your comments Matt. I traded my '12 Heritage and '20 Ultra Limited for the '24 Road Glide worrying a little about wind and vibration; the Ultra was such a smooth bike. But so far what I find is it's a cross between the low, stable Heritage and the smooth touring of the Ultra. Absolutely love it!

I think that's probably accurate. The seat is no where near as comfy as the Limited seat. That's for sure. Plus the leg fairings make a good wind difference as well.

Matt, Matt, Matt, I love your content and have watched most everything you post. With the qualifier, I must protest. The 2024 Street glide is far superior to the Roadglide. Here’s my back story, I own and bought the Softtail slim after your review…. Near perfect bike for me at the time… having been off moto since dirt 0:15 bikes as a kid, running from cops, impound… blah blah blah. Your viewers know the story. I retired, gift was HD slim perfect handling balance etc…. Except the aero is shite! A month ago a friend and I 0:15 secured a few Roadglides to ride Sedona 89A. Great video you did on the serpent btw. 0:15 Mike at Sedona Harley was only able to give us 1 RG and 1 SG be cause of Arizona bike week. The two bike similar, but miles apart. Normal in my “ crew” I ride back at catch up as these guys ride fast and hard. They call me “ windy Tom” cuz i complain about the wind so much on the slim. In Sedona, I rode that SG for 500 miles in two days and these friends wondered where Windy Tom went as they followed, thru, the serpent, of of the mountains around windows to prison, up to Grand Canyon etc. they followed. The Street glide is a dream!!!! Your video contradicts yourself, come on…. Really go pro storage really…. The roadglide toadglide is s beast to corner the serpent, hands get cold in the mountain pass with mini apes… On the valley straight it’s lux, but still road behind the SG. No one in the crew could tame the RG. Jose who has raced passed me doing wheelies at 80 couldn’t find the balance. I see soo many videos pushing RG over SG and wonder WTF is it not moving? I know why. SG hands down over RD. Please keep making content, love your calm voice and even keel. Take good care

Good honest review and opinions on both models. As a 10 plus year SG guy. I will say, I never say, never anymore. I came from riding nothing but metrics. The last one was the Suzuki 109. I use to say, I will never own a Harley. Well, I bought my SG and now there’s no looking back. I will say, I’m definitely wanting to switch to the RG. As for bars and creature comforts. I know from decades of riding. That given time the aftermarket industry will make everything we want for these new models. Great stuff as always Matt. Looking forward to the upgrades and long term reviews.

I have a Low Rider ST currently, having owned a Road King and Street Glide before, and to be honest I never considered the Rushmore Road Glide because it looked like "we gave it our best shot but...". Thanks Matt - I just bought a 2023 Road Glide and my choice over the Street Glide had many similarities to your choices -- my main reason was simply airflow - I rode both and the Road Glide fairing just provided more airflow through the fairing - Thank you for your continuing down to earth dialogue

Matt, alot of good points to break out the differences on these redesign HD iconic motorcycles. Back in July I swapped from my 17 streetglide Special to a 2019 roadglide Special. I've had a couple batwings over the years, and will always love the batwing. Had to downsize from 2 back to 1 bike for a bit, so time to try something new, plus it's in my fav paint; wicked red denim. Took a 1600+ trip 5 day after and the roadglide was a blast. Only differences I noticed is less wind turbulence passing semis at highway speeds. Both bikes can eat up miles in comfort for sure. I see the draw, more and more. Looking forward to your build like you did with your Stormtrooper Streetglide.

Congrats on the upcoming CVO RG ST. Looking forward to the vids U'll be doing when U get it. As a taller rider, I get what Matt is saying about the head wind buffeting not being much different on an SG vs a RG. However, for me, that's where the closeness of how they ride stops. I have only had one RG, a 2012 CVO RG and I have had an 06 & 15 SG and an 18 LTD and none of them ride/handle as nice as that 2012 CVO RG did. I have had 9 HDs over the last 25 years (2 softails and 7 touring bikes) and to date, that 2012 CVO RG was the best riding/handling bike I have ever owned. Now, I cannot make any statements about the 23/24's as I haven't ridden them and likely wont as I don't care, at all, for the look of either of the new styled fairings but one characteristic of the RG vs SG for me back then was that there was less weight on the forks on the RG and that was another big handling characteristic that made the RG ride/handle better. At higher speeds and or in heavy winds, the SG/Batwing fairing (pre-2023/2024) can experience some turbulence where the RG did not. That was my experience with them. I don't have a RG now strictly based on looks. To me, there is no denying the Batwing fairing looks better. That is obviously a subjective view and not a fact but to me, its a fact within my style choice. I actually find the Road King to be the best looking/most versatile bike Harley makes and likely why I have had as many of those over the years as bikes w/Batwing fairings. I have 2 RKings today (have had 3 RKs overall and 5 HDs that did not have fairings) and the 18 LTD mentioned earlier. To me, looks wise, no fairing is better looking that any faring but that's a subject for another video. :)
@jacobs388310 ай бұрын
Great video, in 2015 when harley came out with the new RG fairing I wanted one ever since. Finally in 2022 I purchased a new RG special. I love the bike and will have it for years. Both of these new bikes look incredible but I would still get the RG. Mostly because of the handlebar options. It is a matter of opinion because they both ate great bikes.
@patrickbateman988710 ай бұрын
I don't have 2024 experience, but for the previous gens (i've owned both), the road glide gives noticeably more wind and weather protection around the knees and coming up from under the fairing. On a hot day, I prefer the circulation of the batwing, but in the rain, I can put my elephant ears on the crash guards and get complete weather protection on the road glide, whereas I'll get wet knees on the batwing bikes even with the elephant ears.

This makes a lot of sense with the redesign. I have sat on both multiple times and used to like the Street Glide more, but I am definitely more of a fan of the Road Glide now. It felt so much more comfortable ergonomically and the performance opportunities push it over the top now to me. The Low Rider ST is probably still my favorite Harley but the new Road Glide is right there for me at this point.

Informative comparo. You do a good job of keeping these evaluations positive and objective. The frame mounted fairing on the roadglide always made more sense from an engineering viewpoint. Have been riding for a while now, cutting my teeth during the “Craig Vetter” days back in the 70’s. Another strong point you made is certainly the VVT. Been around quite a while in the automotive world, so there shouldn’t be a “working the bugs out” time period. It has the potential to affect both economy (gas mileage) and performance. Who doesn’t want some of that? Thanks Matt!

I bought my first Road Glide in 2011 after a several trips to Sturgis. The guys I rode with had Road Glides and a Heritage. During the ride the bugs on the Ultra were 100x worse than the Road Glide . I had thousands of bugs plaster on the fairing, the Heritage a lot less and the Road Glide only had 3 but impacts! Also, the Road Glides consistently used less fuel.

I strongly feel the only way to decide between these bikes is to just ride them back to back and see for yourself! In 2017 I test rode a SG Special and then immediately the RG Special back to back and Immediately preferred the RG fairing setup... I felt slightly better / different wind deflection but also didn't like the visuals looking down at the ground / forks through the batwing and I also preferred the fixed fairing. I also didn't like the batwing screen being below the gauges vs above on the RG. The RG pockets with the weighted lids and the closable vents in the fairing were also nice. In 2020 I moved to an FLTRK and couldn't be happier. Matt I am surprised at 6'6" you didn't also prefer the RG all along. I am 6'2" and the reach to the RG fairing was never an issue and in fact I felt cramped on the SG, but probably like you said a minor thing that anyone would adjust to in either direction. These are both best of the best, you can't go wrong either way.

Another awesome review of the new Road Glide and Street Glide. Prior to buying my '19 Tri Glide, I rode a '08 Street Glide and it sold me on the batwing fairing. But styling of th'23 RG3 pulled me over to the shark-nose fairing. The biggest thing I've noticed between the Tri Glide and the RG3 is the ride comfort. The lighter weight of the RG3 makes the rebound on RR Crossing noticeably better. Since I ride solo, the RG3 is a much better ride for me. Thanks again Matt, I really enjoy your reviews (keep up the good work).😊

I bought a 2024 Road Glide CVO ST and I'm extremely happy for my style of riding where I go outside the city a lot and hit twisties and rev at high RPMS but I would not recommend it to someone who tours as it would require modifications that would devalue what is basically a collector's edition Harley and in the end probably harm the high output engine that isn't VVT.

At low speed around turns the head light is not showing you the road, it is dark around the bend. I LOVE the way the new Street Glide fairing lights look on the road at night, like wings coming at you, but thought the buffeting was terrible in 2022 and 2023 when I test rode and compared to my 2015 Rushmore Ultra. I don't ride the Colorado interstates without a full helmet because of how bad the 4-wheelers drive.

My friend got a new RG, and he likes it, but he said he doesn't call it the shark nose. He calls it the Harley with an Indian fairing, lol. I like them both, but I don't call it it SG or RG clan, we're all Harley Clan! And if we're riding, we're all one!

Just watched this one.thanks for the review here and, the other video you did. Your review of the RG3 played a part in my decision to buy and, at the moment I’m considering going back to 2 wheels and, these videos are helping.

I always liked the SG looks, but aft4er watching several reviews of the 2024s I prefer the look of the RG and the storage, but did not know about the storage tray on the SG

One thing I've noticed, wondering if you have, is engine vibration is more noticeable over the Ultra particularly downshifting to a stop light and it starts around 2200 - 2000 rpm. Feel it especially in the floorboards.

Roadking for me, rocking a bar mounted phone holder for nav when I need it, I don't want a radio on my motorcycle.

Now comes what might be the hardest decision for you yet... white or black?! Both CVO RG ST's are stunningly beautiful.

You’re right about that and I honestly don’t know which color to get. I’m think I’ll leave it to fate. The color will choose me.

The 2024 release of both the Road Glide and Street Glide are really nice, makes for a hard choice. I would have to go with the Road Glide however, love the look, and the extra room for gadgets is just super helpful for me. When the Limited comes out with the new faring design, I may well have to level up from my 22 Limited.

Both are great bikes, but I really don’t like the new road glide fairing. I can still tolerate the new street glide fairing. Practically speaking - I like everything being closer to me with the street glide.

I really think when you give your height in the future you should say traveling tall +1/2 inch. Was great meeting you in Vegas and after having ridden both bikes it is a tough decision. I’ve been a street glide guy till now and I’m still trying to figure out what I’m going with next

Great vid Matt. I used to rent ski's to people when I worked at a ski resort. One type of ski wasn't necessarily better than the other. But what was important was to decide what "kind of skiing" you like to do and match the ski to your purpose. Skiing moguls, powder, short turns, giant slalom turns?

Dude, once you jump on a shark nose, there’s no going back.

Eventually I’ll get a Harley. Went from a 50cc scooter to KTM 390 Duke and now paying off my Ducati scrambler. I thought I’d be able to tour on it, but for me it’s only ok for shorter camping trips, which is fun, however, I’d really like to travel across the country. I’ll be moving back to LA from Reno soon, so maybe I’ll get that Harley from Laidlaw 👊🏼 ❤

My first T Bike was a 2010 FLTRX... At the time Street Glides were the bike. You would see 8 Streets and One RG. The pendulum swings. Nice video

Had several batwings. The sharknose is more aerodynamic. Most people who don't know say the fairing doesn't move and it freaks them out. Nobody is looking at the gauges in a turn. It's a lot light on the forks. For many HD factory guys it's the RG. Plus... the King Of The Baggers run RG.

I knew it! No secret here... :) Listening to your Road Glide review a couple weeks ago, It was so clear! Strangely enough, I owned a 2021 Road Glide Special for 2 years before moving to a lighter Road King Special and this year, I was wondering if I should go with the Street glide... So many possibilities! Thanks for the video Matt!

I'm considerring getting a t-bar for my 2022 SGS. Kraus 8 inch pull back riser with T-rex plate. I hear that you can still see the screen.

I have been in the Harley Davidson community since early 2022 with my FXLRS turned into my custom ST. I want a Road Glide. Especially since they upgraded everything. I love my sporty cruiser but maybe a Aporty touring bike would better suit me because i love the idea of full capabilities of a car almost

Being fellow 6'6" rider, I'm surprised you liked the street glide. When I went to get a new Harley in 2014, I was ready to get a Streat Glide ... until I test road it and a Road Glide. I cam home with the Road Glide, because the Street Glide felt too claustrophobic. The crosswinds was also a factor, because before the Road Glide, I had a Fatboy and after a month, I sold the wheels and got laced wheels because of crosswinds. Of course now, I ride a 2019 Tri-Glide and if I hadn't already done a ton of engine work and sound system upgrades, I would trade it in for the new Road Glide 3.

All your videos are great Matt. I do not know if you are aware of any issues with the mirrors on the Street Glide CVO become blurred (mine is a 2023 model). I have spoken to the dealer and they say there is nothing they can do. An email was sent to HD Australia and we are still waiting for a reply. Perhaps, you might know something about this.

Hi Matt, I've been team Road Glide since learning the back story with Vetter. Maybe you could share some of that when you get yours? Also, that is so cool you were able to take part in development (if even a small part). You might sell or trade the 2018 to keep the pocket change, but I hope you keep the new RG for life since you have a bit of dev history with it! Congrats on the new bike, but also your career taking you to a point where you have dev rides on new product and a following of nearly 200,000 riders! I've met dealership family members who just sit back and cash a check, NOT YOU brother, thanks for all the hard work.
