this just gave me a wonderful idea to challenge myself. make a decently low priced (less than like idk 200,000 funds) ssto space plane that can reliably bring like 3-4 kerbals to duna and back with no gravity assists. i don't even know if this is possible or not. i want it to be low priced and easy to use so it works as a sort of private interplanetary transport that can be sold to the general kerbal public.

Nice SSTO, Matt. I built one just like it a few days ago, and it's going to Duna. Only this time, it's STAYING there - which means I'll also have to send a refueling rover just for that. The reason why my plane's staying on Duna is to not have to wait so long for rovers to get to their destination. Just a little constructive criticism here, I noticed in your video that you forgot a few things. - Where's the antenna? I mention this in case you want to transmit science or if you install a probe core and fly the plane EMPTY. A Communotron DTS-M1 would fit perfectly, provided Duna has good relay coverage (and you keep it stowed while flying through the atmosphere). - I don't see any batteries, which can be problematic in case there's no pilot on board. * I also have a Mk. 1 cargo bay with an RTG (and science) to account for that - and I installed a Z-1K battery to increase the electrical capacity. - You forgot to have Bill repack chutes. I also put rocket tanks on my SSTO for the initial ascent to LKO, since pure liquid fuel was not good enough - I needed an extra kick. If I ascended at full throttle at first, my cockpit would burn to a crisp.

I skipped getting an ssto to LKO and went straight for minmus. Then I did a mark 3 to the mun with a mobile base and then one to duna. These were my first ever missions in ksp and I pulled them all off only using ssto's.

I have been trying to make an artificial gravity ring in KSP an while it was fairly simple to construct a basic ring in which the kerbal's must transfer via commands (select a kerman and select what part you want them to go to if thats clearer) but I really wanted to make a ring where I could manually control the Kerbal from the center of the ring or its axis to the ring itself without actually going inside a habitat if that makes any since. I was able to do this however the result was very complicated, could not stay together in a time warp (even though it was in space). I don't think I would be the only one who would like to see you do this. By the way I have only managed to make a ring by making the ring and its axis two separate crafts, I think it would be awesome if you could make it just one craft, but im not asking you to do that if its too hard.

you get more delta v out of your plane if you use the inefficient engines first and then use the efficient ones, so use rapiers closed cycle first, and only when the oxidizer is used up completely should you switch to the nuclear

Yo, you should watch a cutscene of a game called "ace combat 5" where a giant "bridge to the sky" is build to launch an extremely tiny SSTO pad to dock on a huge low orbit spacecraft. The cutscene is from the mission "white bird part one", and i think trying to rebuild the arkbird recreating the SSTO delivery could propose a nice challenge ;)
