Picked up a couple of tips in this video, but I've been doing this for several years. I have a couple of tips for you and others. First I use the VMC long shanked spinnerbait hooks in either a 4/0 or 5/0. Awesome hook ups with them. Second, I have the mold with the same head you are using, but seem to get more bites using the poison tail head mold. I think it gets more "chatter" from better blade to head contact, plus the head has eye sockets. I use the the cheap Prism flat stick on eyes and coat them with Sally Hansen's clear fingernail polish. I've never had an eye come off. Also concerning whether the eye of the insert will bend out....the way you have it in there, it will if you snag it on put pressure on it to pull it loose. If you flip it over to where you bend it "open" from the top, it seems to reduce the chances of that because of the physics of the direction of pull from the snap. Also gripping the eye with a pair of wire snips makes it easier to bend out and back closed.

Great tip about drilling out the holes in the blade. They run a lot better and start faster and easier when you do that.

Another good tutorial, thank you. 1. What’s your favorite non spinnerbait hook to use? 2. Does that wire form ever straighten back out while catching fish ?
@MattLunaFishing3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! 1. I like a flipping hook in 4/0. I really like the 4/0 owner jungle hook. 2. I haven’t fished them enough to be able to say for certain, but this method isn’t new. Based on the amount of pressure needed to open the eye to fit the blade, i wouldn’t be too worried about it opening up.

It’s hard to do and there was no way i can shot how to do it where it would be visible on camera. My hands would cover up the whole process. One thing I’d recommend is slightly drilling out the holes in the blade and it will make it easier.

How do u service your pot? Do u ever have problems with it clogging or dripping a lot?
@MattLunaFishing3 жыл бұрын
I don’t service it at all actually. When it clogs I push something up through the spout to clear it out. Dripping happens to all of them. I also leave mine about 3/4 full all the time and it’s been a big help.
@MattLunaFishing3 жыл бұрын
Make sure the plunger screws are tight and also move the plunger back and forth a few times with a flat head screwdriver and it may help a little with the drips

I was using a chatterbait that I bought on eBay and the eyelid came off Of the head…so I lost the whole chatterbait and trailer. Not sure if it’s user error or maybe there was a flaw in the making of the chatterbait? Never had that happen before.

@@MattLunaFishing The plastic blade on the Stealth Blade cracked on a few. And one I came back with blade only no jig. I still have the broken blade ones. Thanks to your video I may be able to replace the blades with metal ones. Do you use Stealth Blade? I find they don't vibrate as hard as the hammers.
@MattLunaFishing3 жыл бұрын
Got it. That makes more sense. I have used the stealth blades but not a lot. The stealth blades aren’t designed have the same vibration. They are more subtle for when the fish don’t want the amount of vibration from the jackhammer.
@maddgoatee97083 жыл бұрын
@@MattLunaFishing Makes sense for sure. This bait catch a lot of bass.
