When arriving on site to this garage, we had some challenges with the concrete that was set for the lift. Between the wrong size sleeving and an incorrect depth, we had to make some adjustments on the fly to get this lift installed properly. We also discovered how to install the lift controller into a Sonic Cabinet making for a seamless, beautiful install!
You can buy the lift found in this video here:

If I get nothing else from this video, it’s that murica’s measuring system is dumb. We should switch to metric and get smart like the rest of the world.

It’s just too funny to hear you guys talk about measurements….1/4, 1/8, 1/16th…wow! You gotta jump on the metric bandwagon, decimals are way easier! That said, I’m jealous of that shop…keep it up!!!

Love the video! I feel like making these measurements in cm or mm would make it a lot easier and less confusing (this is coming from an American too because using feet and inches sucks)

Why not put some kind of black concrete paint or sealer on all that concrete under the lift? Would have finished it off nicely when the lift was up.

Mike is ridiculously handy. What did he do prior? I mean, a walk behind concrete saw is no joke. Too bad you guys didn’t have bigger power or you could have gotten an electric saw. Our contractors use those in occupied office buildings where we can’t have fumes.

I know what you mean about hydraulic hoses. I eventually purchased my own Parker hydraulic hose crimper, that’s portable so I won’t have to put up with the hydraulic shops and their really expensive prices and sometimes bad attitude. I work on heavy equipment so it saves me some much time from running to the shop for every broken line.

When I poured my garage slab in June, I used nussbaums rendering on how the “plug” should look like and made two plugs out of form-plywood! I still have the rendering in case you want to look at it, because the pipe for the hydraulic hoses to my lift is way different! It’s in metrics tho. Great work by the way and greetings from Sweden 🇸🇪

Made my head hurt listening to you guys trying to work out measurements. Then complain about hydraulic lines & getting hands dirty ….. wasn’t sure if you forgot to put your skirts on that day 😂 Wouldn’t it make sense to custom make a galvanised folded bucket base with lip for the lift to recess into so you remove the contractor concrete pour issue plus contains any spills.

Absolutely love my flush mount scissor lift. (Different brand). Concrete guys never get the base perfectly flat; flat chisel and layer of high pressure concrete mix took care of it: Fishing line run through the conduits aided in my measuring of the to long hose runs I needed to have made. And the best thing. My race deck flooring was cut to create a uniform gap/look around the platforms. Enjoy the heck out of it. Nothing better than a smooth floor area to walk around once the lift is down.

I have OCD and this Matt guy drives me nuts. I’ll explain, if you have OCD, then you wouldn’t be using this shitty ass Swiss deck flooring. Traps dirt, water, debris etc. polish or epoxy or ceramic tile the floor. Not cheap shitty laminate or plastic Swiss. Should of gotten a in-ground 2 post, not this scissor platform lift. Gotta love a guy that has all the answers and can’t even install jack blocks on his old GT350 lmao. I feel your pain Mike.

@@ObsessedGarage lol really? So because you’re ok with using Swiss deck flooring and that the dirt and debris trapped under it means it’s not ocd? I’m obsessed with cleanliness and organizing. So much so, that I clean my house and garage daily with tack cloths to remove any dust. Just because you’re ok with one thing, doesn’t mean it’s ok with another who suffers with the same mental illness. I get the perfection thing, I like things to be perfect, such as making or measuring things. I like them to the thousand’s of an inch. But to complain about a in floor lift to be perfectly flush with the Swiss deck, knowing the lift rocks and will never be perfectly level with the floor is funny even to me.

Matt, lots of screwing around but the next one will go 1-2-3 the end result looks awesome! I think it's time to come up with an OG oil/hydraulic fluid 🛢️resistant quick deploy tarp for these situations. Use some CRC QD electronic cleaner spray to make quick cleanup of that spilled hydraulic fluid on the controls. Didn't you do a SEMA video back in 2019-2020 with a company that had a bag of some oil fluid absorbent material that will leave the floor spotless after 24 hours?

Couldn’t you have just cut the bottom out of the cabinet and put the pump on the floor and dropped the cabinet over it? Obviously there would probably still need to be some trimming, but that seems like it would have been so much easier.

Love how this is coming together. I would always have the concrete set lower for the lift and then use the self-leveling. That allows you to dial it in for perfection. Even if the concrete is only off a couple of baby lines, it's still off. And if it's too high...

The problem with doing that is that it still stains and is really slippery.
@elbuggo

@@ObsessedGarage - I hear you. It is possible to vaccinate the concrete floor against stains, and only polish the floor with grit #800 to avoid it getting too slippery. You fill the floor with chemicals so that there isnt more room for the stains. Still, not sure this is your style though.
