As always your attention to detail is superb...but...Matt...how you let that rust stay inside the hub nut area surprised me after you steam cleaned the the plastic wheel liner. Lol. I recommend at least grinding/sanding that off all 4 corners and tossing some heavy duty grease in there. On the F15 X5s we’re having that rust leak out to the rims and get under the clear coats of the rims and hub center caps and cause them to oxidize and look awful. Just gave you more content as if you needed more I know. Lol

@ObsessedGarage5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, but it's so darn dirty even after cleaning it, that the coating would adhere very well.

I love a good struggle. I try to somewhat keep an all black truck, that is daily driven in the midwest and parked outside detailed. I personally don't care for bimmers, but the aftermarket is a lot wider for your cars than it is for my Ram in a performance aspect. I am wanting to upgrade to 6 piston front and 4 piston calipers rear. definitely going to need to upgrade before a cam and heads upgrade. anyways, that is awesome you are doing all that work for your wife.

Maybe Im missing something or just plain slow, but the Meguiars bottles have markings 1:1, 2:1, 3:1, 4:1, and they say to add water first; assuming you fill with water to designated mark, but what line do you use as the "fill line" when diluting ???
@ObsessedGarage5 жыл бұрын
I thought the same thing. It doesn't tell you the upper fill line.

Have you ever tried meguiar's all season dressing ?. Is it good for interior plastics of wings? Would not it be better than meguiar's hyper dressing for rainy days for example? Because I am looking for good protection for outdoor plastics, I often put meguiar's ultimate black where ultimate protectant, but there are streaks after a rain! I am looking for a good hydrophobic product without streaks. Also, a question that has nothing to do, can optimum ONR serve as a drying aid? thank you in advance

Superb process Matt. Steam really makes a difference to get them really clean. Those gold colored calipers are really awful. What were the folks at BMW M thinking? I feel your itch to redo the color but that would be pretty cool to have it powder coated OG to a blue or even yellow like your E92 M3. Question is do you want to commit to this. I’m sure if you do, we can all benefit from this process.

doesnt your steam cleaner come with various accesoires? like a brush bit? I would have taken the calipers off and do a thorough cleaning on a table with the calipers taken apart, then do the inner fender cleaning which is then easier cos the caliper is gone, so more space and visible parts. But that would take 2 days haha, and you dont wanna spent that time as you said. you can also use break cleaner which cleans stuff well. But a brush attachment would be a smart idea, so you brush and steam at the same time :), anyways i have to say the calipers look good on the outside now!

Wow, I thought your M5 and my M2 had the same brakes but after watching this, Im left wondering why the rear brakes on the M5 are like that. The carbon Ceramic brake kit for the M2 matches all 4 brakes (6 piston up front and 4 piston rear) but the rear yellow ones on the M5 look totally different and look OEM and not like a carbon ceramic brake. I HATE the puke yellow color as well but im not opening up a can of worms just to make them look nicer. They stick out and i think that's why BMW made them that color.

This is beyond me... why would you spend such an amount of time on something we barely notice (especially all the other sides apart from the front face)... it’s going to get instant dirty... I love detailing and I keep my cars reaaal clean, but sometimes I see cars being more often cleaned than they are driven (the way they are meant to be driven, not just to go to the mall...). I take my 2 cars on track and I maintain them but I don’t get someone doing this level of cleaning on a car that is not a show car. Afterwards just put it in a damn museum and never touch it again otherwise you are good to do it all again
