Porsche 718 GT4 Drive: Soul Performance Race Exhaust Impressions & Interior Sound

It's safe to say this exhaust lives up to its name. Above 4k RPM it sounds absolutely incredible, but as John from Soul Performance warned me, the boomy and resonant drone is just not livable for my tastes. If you don't care about drone, then maybe this is the exhaust for you. Next up, we'll be pulling the cats off and installing the competition headers for what I think will be a pretty insane setup.

Listening with my good headphones, I can pick up some of what you are describing for sure! I'm very interested to see how this progresses. I'm thinking the sweet spot might be competition headers with the Valved style exhaust. Thanks for sharing this evolution with us in such a detailed manner! :)

I think the perfect combo , while keeping noise/drone in check is leaving the rear section alone and just going with headers and a tune. You get the power increases, but you keep near OEM sound levels and the option to have the valves open or closed.

Getting the Kline inconel OAP and Kline valved exhaust mixed with soul valve controller. Comes in soon and I will have it installed in the spring since its snowing in the Northeast

Glad to have watched this before going with a race setup. It’s loud in my living room… I can’t imagine driving my GT4 with something like that. It would make my tinnitus even worse! I already have OAP’s, probably going to do headers and leave the stock exhaust on.

You should try a JCR exhaust. They use Helmholtz resonators to eliminate the drone. It doesn’t kill the sound like a normal resonator but instead only kills the drone frequency.

Just dropped off my 718 GT4 to have the Soul Over-Axle Pipes installed tomorrow. I was lucky enough to hear the shop owner’s Spyder with the Soul OAPs and I think that simple mod will get it where I want it to be. But am interested to hear yours with the OAPs + Valved Version of the exhaust.

Great video. I love my 718 GT4. I’ve deactivated the valves with the stock exhaust (it’s always on). Sounds great. Thinking of just adding over axle pipes to remove the GPFs. I think that would be just right 👌🏽. What do you think ?

In the higher RPM ranges it sounds great. But even through my less than optimal speakers, you can definitely pick up some serious drone in some of the lower range, and that wouldn't fly with me. It's for someone though, and based on the install it looks like quality parts.

With the modern Porsches I would option the sport exhaust and just replace the headers, especially on the 911. A "full" exhaust is too much if it isn't sorted properly. GT4 does sound good though.

test drove a C6 Zo6 recently with a full exhaust done and 1500rpm doing 90 down the freeway and you couldn't even hear yourself think the drone was so loud, drone sucks

Is Soul Performance Not the company that buys in China at the Exhaust manufacturer "Liangfei" and changes the finish in the US so that they can say "made in the USA"? I think many other companys buy at Liangfei to. At least a threat at Porscheboost Forum says that. Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪
