For next years driver predictions I suggest the nostradamus pick. Where you wager a driver currently on the grid for a new one to come in mid season. If you get the driver right, you get 5 points. If you get their position right as well, you get 50 points. That's right, automatic P1 by playing the winners game, random chance.

I think it makes sense when you've got multiple judges, to avoid a bias or an outlier opinion but in this case, if you had the best or worst weekend of your career, it should count, since that's not really a question of opinion

Given the past 3 seasons, the amount of crashes they've had, (still considering them having both Latifi and Sergeant), it would seem that something might be wrong, with how they design the car. I am both curious and a bit worried given that in that same space of time, Sainz at Ferrari has had his fair share of crashes, so let's see how next year goes for them

I was surprised that the F1 Power Ranking showed Norris on top, with Verstappen second. I think they expected a lot from Verstappen and rated him lower if he didn't win or reached the podium, where Norris expectations were lower and he was forgiven the many minor mistakes he made, like losing pole positions in lap 1. I read that many more people were not agreeing with the final Power Ranking. And your rankings confirm that.

The problem is the system. The RB was so fast at the start that even a 20 to 40 sec gap was easily top 5 still where other drivers would lose problem 6 rating points to there teammate he lost just 3-4

For the same reason Lando got an 8/10 even though he completely bottled the championship in the best car by some distance and cost himself like 70-80 points due to unforced errors. Max outperformed his car by like 50-60 points and should be 2 if not 3 full rating points ahead of Lando. He also should probably have a higher rating than last year.

Russell P7, defacto 3 wins in 4th best car. Gives Hamilton the most teammate problems since Rosberg 16. Had a win on the table on Brazil if the pit wall listens to him, in the visually most difficult car to drive of the weekend. Absolutely bodies the guy with the most pole positions in history in qualy. Mostly gets marked down because 4th best car #2 catches him up when it passes

@@soren7965 People are quick to forget that Lawson is extremely green but still gets ranked like he's had multiple seasons. I think he deserves to be higher than a 6.0 in P1's rankings. I wouldn't have said Colipinto out-performed him if you consider the trail of damage that he left behind. Brazil was a prime example of Lawson's class but he got rated poorly.

Of course Piastri's wins were when Norris made mistakes or had issues, like most the times he beat him . Secondly the only drivers who had qualifiyings h2h as bad as Piastri were not even in the top 20. Yet Piastri is f***king 4th!! If stroll was in the McLaren I'm sure he'd be in Tommy's top 5 too.

Yeah. They aren't Lawson fans in any way. When he gets the RBR seat expect tears and anger from these guys. If they could actually be objective, they wouldn't be crapping on about COTA being his only good race. Brazil was amazing. Results were skewed by the Piastri/Lawson incident which handed Yuki two free points for nothing. Forgetting that to get back in the points Lawson had to overtake Lewis Hamilton and then hold him off for the rest of the race. And you've rated him below Colapinto. Hilarious!

I think you need to add more constituency to the ratings. Seeing that Perez for example is getting a 8 for being a Pitstop behind Max in Bahrain while a Stroll gets a 5 for Japan where he is a pitstop behind but its 7 positions difference so it looks worst. Because realistically Perez would have barely a 4 for his performance especially if Alonso and Max are both highly rated drivers.

7:20 This is not how to use statistics. Alonso didn't score a lot of points in the last 20 races relative to his first four either. The car just was the strongest at the beginning of the season and got a lot worse thereafter. Stroll is obviously a worse driver and contributes less points to the team than Alonso, but the fraction wasn't so different after 4 or 24 races: 9/33 = 27.3% after 4 races and 24/94 = 25.5% after 24 races. So yes, Stroll is worse than Alonso, but everybody knows that, but you make it sound like he was bad for 20 races. So no, it doesn't "say more about Stroll than Alonso", it just says that the car got worse over the course of the season and that Alonso scores about 3/4 of the team's points both in the first four and the last 20 races. You shouldn't quote a catchy statistics to harm someone's reputation without actually digging into the numbers and different ways how to interpret them and the causes for them in my opinion. You just said this to make Stroll appear very bad. But you shouldn't look for fitting statistics to satisfy your narrative, you should use numbers to come to a conclusion independent of what you meant to find out to avoid confirmation bias. I don't try to defend Stroll here, I fully agree that he didn't have a great season and should be replaced. I'm just a scientist and have a problem with the misuse of statistics to imply things that aren't there.

If you're so hard trying to represent statistics then you should say that theres not only the possibility that the car got worse but that the cars of the other teams got better at a faster rate than the Aston Martin, at least it's a possibility if you look at your provided stats it's not 100% sure that the car got worse

When you see the average ratings, you realize that giving ratings based on what each person thinks a driver could achieve is pointless. What should be done is to assess whether the drivers have maximized the car’s potential in each race and base the ratings on that, regardless of whether they have 1 race or 200 races under their belt. Otherwise, if the ratings are based on age and how fast the car is, these are the ratings for the drivers, not the ratings for the constructors

For Max 'The car that he had for much of the season' sounds like lots of recency bias - RB started the year entirely untouchable and that gave him a lead that looked practically untouchable in just those few races before RB suspiciously lost all performance overnight... And then even when it wasn't clearly the best car it was still every race weekend clearly between still being the best and 4th best depending on the weekend - which is exactly the sort of car you expect to win WDC in the right hands, with that little bit of luck to help you or hinder your rivals on the races where your cars relative performance would hurt you. Just because we have had a few periods of absolute dominance by one team back to back doesn't change the fact that the WDC has often be won by a car that isn't clearly the best, and more than a few times by a car that is clearly inferior, but with quality team tactics and teamwork and a good lead driver the difference is made up.

I d like to point out that even thought the average rating across all season solves the recency bias problem, it is still a bias rating cause it lacks relevant information which can be known to as fans only after the fact. An example is that mclaren have had the best overall car for 3/4 of the season, but we only come to that realization (as a fanbase i mean) somewhere around baku.

Franco deserves another chance. He showed the pace immediately. He had eventually the rookie mistakes expected. Albon crashed as much as he did with more than 100 races in f1, the car was certainly difficult to drive. He never had any preparation, but he has so much potencial. He deserves to be in f1 more than ocon, lawson , yuki and of course stroll

@@ab8jehnah i think it’s the fact that his first drive was overrated. people were so impressed he finished in the points but he had the second best car. f2 drivers have often shown they can do a reasonable job when thrown into an f1 car. he finished 24 seconds behind his teammate which is perfectly find but a 10/10 drive? idk

Doohan over Ocon is genuinely so laughable I burst into tears laughing so hard. I get that it’s rage bait and I’m falling for it here but man it’s pathetic. Ocon should be over Gasly too considering he finished higher in Brazil (on merit instead of luck) and beat him in the h2h despite Alpine moving his mechanic team to Gasly and let the car breakdown without fixing it the entire last half of the season.

It is wishful thinking by certain people and frankly doesn't really matter. All the power rankings are subjective. I stopped caring about the opinions on the official F1 channel because they are heavely affiliated with Sky.
