I agree that you can easily read Liveship Traders before Farseer but I really think there’s 2 things- not 1- you miss out on.

Promise of Blood is SO good. But autumn republic...i just...its a good ending...but the ending isnt earned and its rushed in my opinion. Overall the story is amazing. Promise of blood is my 3rd favorite book. Crimson campaign was so fricking amazing too! I did like A.R. i just thought it was rushed and not very well earned

Great video again! I have one caveat: I'm not sure why people frequently say that Mistborn era 1 is YA. Just because it isn't Abercrombie and there are hints at a love triangle in book 2 doesn't make it so. That book literally opens up with themes of slavery and sexual assult in an authoritarian apocolyptic setting... I think when people go a long time away from that book, read grimdark, they look back thinking it's YA by comparison when it really isn't. It is a great intro to Fantasy as you mentioned though!

I find that people tend to lean towards calling books YA based on the age of the protagonists. Most YAs do tend to have teenage, or sometimes early 20s, characters, and it gives people the unconscious bias that any books that feature characters of that age are YA.

I think for me... Of blood and bone's characters were not as great. I never felt as emotional about the characters like i did with Faithfull and the Fallen. Although the pace in this and bloodsword series is quicker I feel the characters fall short. I needed more time with the charactets before shit happens.... just how i feel 🤦‍♂️

The first time I started reading Mistborn, I had to give up about halfway through the first book. The writing is just so incredibly, horribly awful. I still have nightmares sometimes about suffering through the scene where they meet in a conference room and literally write bad ideas on a chalkboard. And some of the allomancy powers are so absurdly stupid. One of them is, wait for it, the ability to detect other allomancy powers! That's it! Imagine how screwed over you would feel if you got stuck with that one. Eventually I did come back and manage to get through the full trilogy and I did enjoy it. But man, that first book's writing, to quote Wesley, a miserable vomitous mass. I've read probably about 8 of the discworld books, and I must have read the wrong ones, because they were all sooo boring. The only one I liked was the first one, The Color of Magic, and I thought it was hilarious and amazing. I kept hoping that one of the others would hit those highs again, but nope, just boring. To be fair, I don't think I've read the citywatch ones, so maybe some day I'll give them a try. Glad to finally get your next installment. Looking forward to the next. No matter how long it takes.

Magic systems are dumb. I’m of the same opinion as Chris Ruocchio on this. Turns a book into a video game, not for me.
