You are absolutely spot on about trail width. When the Hummers began touring in Sedona, they didn't follow any of the rules and challenged the Forest Service in court to get permits for the trails the other companies already had. During the litigation time they were allowed to operate and literally ruined every trail out there. All the trails were measured by the Forest Service when they started and their width was 8'. When they lost their case the trails were measured again and they were between 12' and 15' wide. They also were running off the trails and running over the Shaggy Bark Juniper trees, that grow hundreds of years, and anything else they could, just to impress their riders. What a nuisense they became for the environment. I was a guide who traveled the trailes, in a jeep, during the time and was witness to the damage they did.

I sympathize with breaking down in the middle of Nevada. I have experienced multiple flat tires out there with my family of origin and lost a transmission on a family trip out there. Not easy not fun. The hot summer desert isn’t great on vehicles. There was a trip or two where we intentionally planned our drive through Nevada to be in the dark. Thank goodness for good friends who rescued us on the dead transmission trip.

Matt, styes usually resolve on their own in one to two weeks. A warm compress can help. With thoroughly washed hands, you can use a finger to gently massage the eyelid following the use of the warm compress. This can help stimulate drainage from the blocked oil gland. Do NOT pop it. A stye is an infection (typically a staph infection) in the eyelid’s oil glands. Popping it can cause the infection to spread to other parts of the eyelid. Do NOT rub your eye or touch your stye. If you do, be sure to wash your hands thoroughly after.

I clear up steyes with a match head and I think they come from rubbing your eyes with dirty hands. Light a match and blow it right out, let the match head cool and press it or rub it on the steye. The ash contains sulfur, and that neutralizes the cyst, I believe. I had a friend that got them every few months, and they always cleared up fastest when he tried my trick.

Tip Instead of fitting a permanent winch at the front of a vehicle have a receiver hitch fitted instead and mount the winch on a plate with another receiver hitch and use a bit of suitable square tube to join the two when needed. This way you can store the winch in you garage when not going off road, you can also with the use of a battery pack use the winch anywhere you need it.

So I always define a friend as someone you can call at 4 am for a ride knowing he has to get up at 6 or so am to go to work, and they come and get you without question. Maybe not happy about it, but they do it. Because we all have a bunch of friends who will gladly do that... and by do that, I mean they will tell you all day long they will do that, until you need them to do that, then it is all excuses.
