@Databyter
@Databyter Жыл бұрын
I was thinking the same. Even with Winches, the Morvair would have been slipping and likely need to be anchored etc, and it would have been a much harder pull out to the road. This was the purpose designed rig Matt envisioned and is now proven, even as it is being further improved and tuned. One improvement I would add right away is a textured mat to the toolbox lid so that if there are riders they are more secure from sliding around on rough roads. Databyter

Lesson learned: never kinetic pull a vehicle out that is stuck deep in mud. The suction is too much and damage will occur. Use a winch with constant pressure instead. Matt has said this numerous times in his videos! It's always been true!

@@jordanwacker7762 Yes, absolutely true, you shouldn't do a "kinetic" pull without an actual kinetic rope, so that's half of their failure. But Matt's been very clear about NOT doing a kinetic pull in these conditions even with the correct gear for the reasons that Joe mentioned. There's just too much suction and you're going to break things. Slow and steady with a winch is MUCH safer.

Jerking on it with a static strap... lucky all that got hurt was the window and taillight. That would have been a lot even for kinetic. Winch was definitely the right tool for that job. @Matt's Off Road Recovery yeah a little education can go a long way. Even the "proper" equipment can be dangerous if used improperly. That's one of the things I really like about your channel is that you're pretty good about explaining what you're doing and why. It's not quite a how-to video but it shows that you have the safety of your crew and the customer's vehicle in mind. Sometimes there's just no good way to do something and you do the best you can with what you have but you always make it as safe as possible. Hats off to you my friend keep it up.

I broke a 25,000 lb kinetic rope pulling with my Tacoma against a 2500 Silverado Duramax with its front axle buried in mud to the frame. Took out my tailgate. Then I used my Hi-Lift on a couple of 4x4's to lift the front out. Still got them out. New tailgate $120. Black primer contrasts well with my red Takoma. Lots of fun.

I have moved some very heavy stuff with the simple addition of a gin pole. Instead of trying to pull the thing through the slope a gin pole allows you to pull it upward and away/above the slope. Even the simple addition of a tire rim (so the rope, cable, chain goes up and over) makes a huge difference and is well worth the effort.

I've heard Matt comment several times about the lack of fenders on the Off Road Wrecker. Some of the larger 4wd tractors have fenders that bolt to the axle and turn with the tire. The fenders are plastic and light weight. Possible they could be adapted to work on the wrecker.

You know, the wrecker really is a beast and makes these recoveries look simple. Glad you spent so much time and effort with it. Paint the roof inside!

Brilliant job!! The only thing I think the world's largest wrecker is missing is a extra row of seats!!

Awesome. Definitely put some thought into building the wrecker. Recoveries from now on will be easy and safer. Glade the remote wasn't ruined. It happens, lots of people around and things to think of.

After watching the wrecker build over the last year, it is absolutely amazing at what a beast it is and how well it works! Matt would have been stretching the Morrvair to the limits doing dynamic pulls with a rope repeatedly to get this one out..But the wrecker just sits there and yawns in boredom at this Jeep sucked deep in the mud ! A million kudos to Matt & his amazing team in building this wrecker machine! Hmmm...now the problem is ,will the videos get boring since theres little effort involved using the wrecker??!! haha! Great job, MORR team! :-)

Great video thank you for all your awesome content I would like to suggest you reinforce the top of the toolboxes and install seats on the back of the wrecker and maybe some mudguards even just some old conveyor belt held off the tyre by a pipe frame to keep the weight down anyway thanks again keep up the great work MORR crew

It almost pains me to see (whether we like it or not) such a valuable vehicle put in a situation of being destroyed, but then I remember I’m not the idiot who did it. Poor jeep.

Hey Matt, you should put a vinyl cushion on the tops of the toolboxes on the wrecker! Might be a cushier place to sit?

Those are the kinda jobs that'll make Rhett, "The-Man" at this stuff in 10yrs or so, Matt needs to use that capable resource more often,😉👍, and he needs to do the finish work on the wrecker asap, it's proven itself more than worthy of being finished, and adequately-equipped even,🤨, you should've hooked the camper up to the Moorvair, and towed it to solid ground, the guy's truck was already unhooked from it, you took a chance of getting the truck and camper stuck, but luckily it wasn't that bad,👍, thanks for sharing guys.

I would love to see a video that does a comparison/competition between the Wrecker, Banana, and Morrvair. Like the one you guys did with the Banana and Morrvair when it was completed. That's still one of my favorite videos. I think a video like that every time you guys add a rig to the fleet would be just as incredible as the first one. As always, I really appreciate how positive, uplifting, and building your videos are. Y'all make the world a better place just by being who you are and sharing that with the rest of us. Much love!

Would mounting some low back plastic seats on top of the tool boxes maybe an option. Since it seems like the tool boxes are becoming used regularly as additional seating on recovery’s. Plastic seats may not be the most comfortable but at least they’d clean off easy and provide stability and help prevent some from sliding off the tool box and getting sucked under the rear tires setting directly in front of them.

I love the episodes with Rhett now. He used to be so shy and quiet but he has really come out of his shell and is now one of my favorite people to watch on the channel. He's so funny and witty now. Oh, and also loving how easy the wrecker seems to make some of these jobs look. Great work on that build!!!

Ah the challenges of being in the auto recovery business. It is not always glamourous work. Sometimes their is a challenge. This one could be a mental challenge. It would be for me. I don't handle cold water very well. Rhett(sp) thanks for taking one for he team!

I once had to recover a brand new CJ7 Jeep submerged in 24" of solid ice at zero degrees for 5 days. We had to use axes to break the ice, and a Holmes 850 on a Kenworth chassis to get it out. There was so much ice still on the Jeep that it squatted the springs on the rollback.

I love how Rhett is being a good sport about this. I feel for ya buddy, my dad would have done the same to me haha. Also, you should do some kind of magnetic mount for the winch controllers. Then you can just smack it to the side of the truck instead of putting it down and running it over...Matt. "You may ask yourself, is it that warm out? No, it's not."
