Well that was some great memories. Like you I was on wooden boats with my dad in fact two of the Chris crafts in your video are boat models hanging on my wall as I watch this, yes that is a 27 foot sea skiff. Thanks. 😎.

18 ft was kinda the limit for us. Ours were always 16ft. But we were involved in ski racing. In fact the day I learned to ski Chuck also learned. He went on to be the world champion for 7 years. Like I said we were ski racers.

My Father in law restored a 1941 CristCraft 26' Cabin Cruiser, Grey marine flat head 6cyl . Many fond memories of Power Squadron Rendezvous and family get aways. Spent two years at the marina and used my husband John to cotton seal all the seams.Alot of work details on the electric routing ect.

A bunch of really beautiful boats. Now I'm not what I would call myself a boat person. But I've always appreciate these boats and the work it takes to get them to this point again. Then the work it takes to keep them looking this great. And sqaishey like old cars and trucks keep them out of the rain if they looked at nice. And these guys actually sit there classics in water. I'm just saying..

One boat in the beginning of the video had wooden Trik skis and a ski belt. Fond memories of my father. I retired the wooden ones to my ski wall. I still use modern ones to ski backwards at 61 years old. Like riding a bike 🙂

These are some amazing looking boats. This is a great tribute to your dad Matt. Doing these boat shows must flood back some really great memories and great times. And you do the boat shows justice. Showing as many as you can.Hard to believe some of the boats go back to the 30’s The maintenance has to high on them as well. Great variety 💯👍👊And the Model Boats were a bonus!

I just want to thank you for your video. I have been wanting to build a model boat out of wood for a really long time and since I now have the time to do it, I have taken inspiration from your videos that have given me so many examples to strive toward. I live in Switzerland and this kind of tradition does not exist. There are certainly some nice boats here - especially paddle boats, but not in this classic wooden runabout style. Thank you ever so much !!

@@MattsRadShow well deserved Matt BTW, these boats get from you what they deserve and require, not a quick glance, but a detailed and dedicated look from different angles, to make the viewer discover the small details and the timeless beauty of their elegant lines, from the simple Utility models, to the most luxurious ones

Wonder if you have ever come across a Chris Craft 21-foot Monterey outboard express cruiser? It was probably sold around 1955 as a kit, maybe through Sears catalog. Sterling Models of Philidelphia produced a 1/12 scale model kit and in the 80's Dumas models, after buying Sterling, sold a similar kit. Looks similar to the boat in time 25:30 in your video except it has a windscreen on top of the cabin, and a 35 horse Johnson outboard with the rounded maroon cover style.

Being as how I was birn into the Petaluma ski club, some of these boats make me nostalgic. I like the runabouts and V-drives. We had a Glidercraft, a Phoenixcraft clone built in Lakeport, they had a set of molds there. Before that we had a Philips, they were built in Richmond Cal. That Philips was a mohogany nitemare. Terrible handling. Almost flipped it twice , but the Glidercraft was great. The Philips had an Edsel 400 engine, the Glidercraft had a Corvette smallblock. The problem with the Philips is it was unable to get up on plane, the bow would oversteer the rudder. I was able to ski behind it though. I remember when I first learned to waterski. My dad said the boat was full and I had to ski back to Soda Bay, 5 miles. But I made it fine.

Ah, the annual "Git Rot" convention ;) Sorry, its that leftover pain and resentment from having to work on wood boats as a kid. Beautiful and cool, certainly... Until you have to spend your spring sanding spar varnish and keeping it from sagging on a sunny day. I never complained about waxing the hull after that.

Hey Matt, Saturday 10-2PM Lakeside Cabinets show, I guess I met you there last year. And after that will be Anoka Finale Show from 2-8PM. I recommend that show because I think you never covered that one. Sunday 9-3 Withrow Tractor/Car show is always great with many cars and cool stuff. And/or River Falls Bacon Bash have a car show as well 11-4PM. It will one of the last busy weekend for the car season.

I grew up on lake Cumberland Kentucky it has a little over a thousand miles of shoreline. There was a guy moved down from somewhere up north he was a big old German guy latest on beer but he had a 55 would Chris Craft. And the amazing part hey he would let us 15 and 16 year old take it out all day skiing with it. The speech he gave us was you can take my boat you can try to screw my daughters he had two beautiful girls but don't throw your goddamn cigarette butts in my yard. That is a true story I push it 70 now add wish I could go back to that time just for one day
