I use the #1 Uncle Josh Pork Frog as a spinnerbait trailer for night fishing. Black spinnerbait, blue blades and black frog. The pork frogs also hold onto fishing scents and attractant for much longer.

I caught my biggest LM on a Storm Thundercrank in the Perch color. I have 2, but do not use them as much lately. I was cranking up a point and the fish was HUGE. No picture or weight, but 26 inches long and super heavy. Another one I have mentioned before is the DT Thug in Helsinki Shad. My latest find is the River2Sea Bubble Pop 65. I had to order more overseas after discovering how well they work for big smallies.

Matt, you are 100% correct when you say the new booyah lipless is no where close to the xcalibur line of baits, XR and XRK lipless baits and the XCS100 squarebills. The Xcals are FAR superior. The XR/XRK 25 size lipless cranks are SUPER effective in the fall on Smallies.

Surprised no one makes a line thru anymore * when the fish tugged on the treble he pulled it down away from the body of the lure * this made it so the fish couldn't use the lure body as leverage to throw the hook* Spinnerbait makers are now making a swivel swinging head that fish cant shake by using the spinner arms as leverage to throw the hook* I wouldn't be surprised if someone is working on using swivel heads on jerkbaits and crankbaits!!

Pogo Shad lol :) Bomber Jig - had a line through connection. Would love to revisit it as a swim jig. Manniac rattlebait with the rotating connection could really get more side to side action than most lipless. I'm really familiar and agree with your 1st choice, except my version is the shallow fat rap. I have 2 left, both in the crawdad colour (had a chartreuse with a silver belly, imitated a frog really well, but I lost it). Awesome bait for burning up shallow 1-3 feet. Small mouth always chased it down, and even caught a few big buckets over the years as well. Thanks for the memories...!! btw, Rapala makes NOTHING like the fat rap now...wish they would bring it back!

Are all the Johnson lures discontinued? Evidently Pure Fishing bought them and it appears there aren't any Johnson Lures available on their website. They are available online to some extent on other sites, but I was looking for the Johnson Splinter specifically, I've caught a lot of salmon with them, but they appear to be gone. It's kind of a Kastmaster knock off, but there's something different about it that catches more fish.

My favorite discontinued lures list would absolutely start with the Luhr Jensen Brush Baby. I still have a handful of them, but am always on the lookout for more. Best heavy cover and rip-rap crankbait ever. Next would be the original Burke Dedly Dudley. Looks like a buzzbait, but you fished it like a spnnerbait. After it was on the market a year or two, it was replaced by the DD2, which WAS a buzzbait They lengthened the wire, flattened the head and made the blade wider. But the old, subsurface DD, with the longer, narrower blade, was an incredibly productive bait that just went by the wayside. Pedigo Pork frogs! Bought out a tackle store's stock of brown ones in Dallas, on my way to Mexico back in the way back old days. Outfished the Josh frogs bigtime with them. Finally, pre-Pradco Cordell Pencil Poppers. Since Pradco got involved, they 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤 more or less the same to me, but evidently not to the fish, because they are not nearly as productive.

For me, one stands above all others. I didn't scan every response, but it is the Devil's Toothpick by Smithwick I don't think it has been manufactured for over 30 years. It is a very cool little top-water stick bait. The Boy Howdy is an attempt to copy, but it really isn't the same. The Toothpick was best in glass surface top-water bites. It is so quiet, yet you could easily make it do all kinds of flips and flops, including making it hop out of the water like a fleeing bait fish. I have only one left and I don't think I'll ever fish it, to be kept as a memory of the 1000's of fish I've caught on it.
