Making a Mural with Only Dice…

Today I made a Giant Self Portrait of myself using 10,000 dice! this took my so long but it was super fun. I've tried rug tufting, pendulum painting, and a bunch go tik tok art hacks, but this one was one of my favorite! let me know if you guys liked the way this turned out, love you all!

Great idea. If you ever do it again, smooth the glue out so your final surface isn't affected by the wave of glue smooshed under the dice. This will help insure the dice stay in place better too.

Blacking out the dice reminded me of a mural I saw at a hospital once. It was made up of hundreds of 1”x1” photos of former patients and employees and formed a large, color representation of the hospital’s unique and scenic logo. I was so impressed, until I looked closely and noticed the photos had all been tinted with the colors necessary to form the mural. They may as well just have painted the scene with a brush. I’m not saying this self-portrait isn’t truly very impressive; just that it reminded me to give any work of art the attention it deserves. Sometimes you’ll be more impressed than you were initially, sometimes less so.
