Yes I really enjoyed stopping by and taking a walk around. Some wonderful vistas when you look out into the lochs. Another great find on Scotland's west coast.

Several houses and the old single track road were flooded when they built that Dam
@MattWhitingsEurope3 жыл бұрын
I didn't realise that, I was wondering how old it is? Do you know when they actually built it? Sounds like it had quite an impact for the people who lived around it.

Google Loch Glascarnoch Dam, I think it was built in the late 50's, it did create plenty of employment for a while

Driving the North Coast 500 was such an incredible experience! It was filmed at the end of the first COVID summer so even though travelling was allowed most people had stayed at home.

Very cool gorge. We just “camped” (cabin) near Quechee Gorge VT and did a small, easy hike. It’s the “Grand Canyon” of Vermont (some say of New England and even of the east coast but that’s a stretch). It was nice but does not compare to the one in this video. Fascinating segment on the place where England and Scotland came together. And loved the little boat garden at the end!
@MattWhitingsEurope3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Heidi, enjoyed visiting the gorge - it was breathtaking! I'll admit that I had to look up Quechee Gorge so perhaps not quite as famous as the Grand Canyon haha! Looks good though, are there any bears in that area? I found the England/Scotland divide interesting too, it's something I'd not really thought about before - good to know!
@heidil40083 жыл бұрын
Oh for sure. I read a couple of “problem” bears spotted there but they are mostly in the mountains and northeastern part of the state. Black bears are all over New England. They are often spotted in my hometown in southern New Hampshire.
@MattWhitingsEurope3 жыл бұрын
That's interesting, I didn't realise there were so many in that area. I was just looking at the location of Quechee Gorge again and realised that I drove very close to it when travelling from Boston to Lake Placid in 2007. It was a lovely area!

Interesting, maybe one day if I go back I'll get to see it!
Nice Ferrari you got there! Not very nice way to name the quarry. That looks like a great spot to park the RV. 430 Million years ago? Wow! That is incredible. Marylou is a cute little boat! Franz Ferdinand and now Matt Whiting!
@MattWhitingsEurope3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I could have done with that Ferrari, would have been quite interesting trying to navigate those little bumpy single-track lanes! On second thoughts maybe I'll stick with the Duster!! Franz Ferdinand and now Matt Whiting made me laugh - I can see it on the posters already. It's got a ring to it!

Saw a lorry teetering over the edge of this gorge one icy morning. Could've been around 2010.

Looking forward to watching them. However I am off on hols next week to Plockton and I am hoping to do a couple of day trips to Gareloch and Applecross. Do you have any must dos/sees.?
@MattWhitingsEurope3 жыл бұрын
Well first of all have a great time, I hope the weather is kind to you! If you're coming up from Plockton I'd suggest stopping for a break in Lochcarron and then driving the Applecross Pass to Applecross (it's a challenging route but definitely worth it for the views). The Bealach na Ba Viewpoint is terrific and although Applecross is small it's a lovely village. If you end up going to Gairloch then I'd recommend a stop at Beinn Eighe National Nature Reserve and the Glen Docherty Viewpoint, as well as a drive through Torridon - the landscape around there is magnificent. Hope that helps, if you have any questions please feel free to ask.

What’s a demoman?
@That-Random-Romainian-Guy5 ай бұрын
@@MattWhitingsEurope it's a character from a 2000s shooter game, he's a black Scottish Cyclops (he says that in his short film) he's not an actual Cyclops, and the reason I said that is because he was born in ullapool Scotland, if you want more information which I recommend because the game is very fun, go watch "meet the demoman"

A Valley in Scotland is known as a Glen and you can't pronounce Loch properly.
