Her charts were SO hard! In smaller towns or with weaker players, she’d just do the gig with her rhythm section, who at the time traveled with her. Lee Musiker was her MD for a while I think. Amazing. But outside of a major market lots of cats just couldn’t hang. It happens. This recording may have been at IAJE in NYC many years ago when Jack Sheldon was also on the bill.
