Maureen..you've done the song proud! I grew up to this song as my Mother was from Antrim. She'd play and sing it at the piano. A sweet memory I have to treasure. I brought her home where she rests as: The Green Glens Of Antrim Are Heaven To Me". Thank you for posting.

Isn't it a small world. I did indeed share a room with your Mum on my first visit to Lourdes...she was a perfect room mate. I have been to Lourdes with the sick on many occasions since. Best Wishes Jannee. Maureen

What a beautiful song, every time I listen to you sing it, I have tears in my eyes. I was born and grew up in Co. Antrim . Makes me feel homesick but strangely at peace somehow.

It has been said that Ardai Cuain /Quiet Land of Erin was the "amhrán náisiúnta" in the Glens of Antrim. This one could easily be another. Beautifully sung. Good pictures too. *****

My mother was a Murray. All I knew was: Charles Murray from Antrim, her granpa. Buried with wife Margaret in Wausau, Wisc. Your lovely rendition gives me memory of that whole side of our family. I'll You Tube once more before lights out.

Maureen..I'm looking forward to your version..so..please get it uploaded! :^) I have the original 45rpm that my Mom brought back. The label is so worn..I can only make out that her first name is Eileen. It is tender and captures the beauty of The Glens.

There are devices that can now be bought for transferring old video to digital format. A very handy device I'm looking at models as we speak so I can transfer all my old clips of 20 years ago before VHS video becomes a thing of the past...not cheap though around 60 - 70 Stg.
You're very welcome Maureen , wish you a nice sunday ..all the best , greetings Simmi

@jc32yorkacuk I am very touched by your comments. I have been singing for many years to people and with people on both sides of the divide. That divide is becoming less deep and hopefully will disappear altogether. Don't feel guilty about surviving.............you survived for a reason. I hope to keep singing and as long as my voice keeps going I will sing. Thank you for taking the time to write and be happy. Hope you had a lovely Christmas.Maureen.

I have another beautiful song to upload "The Blue Hills of Antrim" Gorgeous song. At the moment it is with a friend who is transferring some cassettes to CD for me. Funny to hear my voice as it was about 20 years ago. More 'girlie' if you know what I mean.

I don't think so. As far as I know 'The boys of Bluehill' is a dance tune. 'The Blue Hills of Antrim' is a classic Irish song. I hope to upload it in the next couple of weeks...still waiting for the CD

I am think hard about that.....I have a birthday coming up and I must start dropping hints! I have quite a lot of the TV shows I did in the 70s and 80s and it would be a good idea to transfer them to CD . or whatever!! I don't know about posting them to KZbin with copyright . I shall have to make enquiries.

I'm sure that it will be great. Would the "The Blue Hills of Antrim" have anything to do with the tune "The Boys of Bluehill" i.e do they refer to the same thing? I look forward to hearing it.
