Johnson C. Smith University football coach Maurice Flowers did more than produce an 8-2 campaign that tied a school record for wins in a season; the JCSU alumnus lifted the shroud of perennial loser from the Golden Bulls program. In the process, the football program earned a national ranking for the first time as well as media attention that included national TV games as well as record attendance for contests on campus.
