Maurice Utrillo: A collection of 596 works (HD)

My father was a Montmartre painter from 1947 to 2013, he met Maurice Utrillo in the early 1950’s. I lived in Montmarte for 35 years. I went to school there (infant school and primary). Most of la Butte Montmartre still is unchanged. Much more tourists, the streets and buildings are almost all there. I am a painter, as was my father. I remember the 1970’s even the 1960’s there was a darkness and the buildings were still carrying the dust and grime of a hundred years… today, all is renovated, turned into souvenir shops or boutiques. The magic remains alive, we pass through, other generations take over and add their touches to this village.

Beautifully rendered work Utrillo must of loved Montmartre deeply to capture it's beauty so sensitively! Listening to the music " F -Tranquility" adds that extra touch , almost sad!

I just love utrillos work even more than Monet Renoir or degas I prefer utrillo their deep and meaningful and the subject matter of romantic paris but in an honest way and his churches which have true mystical power in them

Thank you for this...beautifully presented. It seems the Japanese aristocracy had a particular liking of Utrillo's work - the 'bathos', in their sentiment at least. Certainly his composition has much in common with some of the best loved Japanese wood prints..
