Abolition of Slavery Day is a Public Holiday in Mauritius to celebrate the end of slavery on the 1st February , 1835. The Creoles in Mauritius celebrate that freedom with their unique music Sega at Festivals on the beaches, in clubs and parties. Some visit the Slave Monument Park at Le Morne to honour the bravery of the runaway slaves called Maroons.
