Hi Pascal. Thank you for your feedback. You can add the fried onions almost at the end of the cooking process and mix them up before serving the Halim in a bowl.

What cam we substitute for cracked wheat please thanks And for many persons
@cookwithavi7945
@cookwithavi7945 3 жыл бұрын
Mauritius Halim is more authentic when using cracked wheat , however in cooking nowadays we have a lot of options to meet with people’s dietary needs and requirements. In this case, if you want to substitute cracked wheat instead, you can use Barley or Buckwheat. It would also taste delicious. Please feel free to ask me any recommendations. Thank you and all the best. Bon appétit.

You can just leave the cracked wheat out. My grandmother cooked this for me when i was growing up and she never used cracked wheat. I dont think it adds anything in terms of flavour or texture. But that’s just my opinion, and yes i am Mauritian.

@@aur2009Hello Jake. Thank you for your feedback . I believe we can have any option if we want to add or do not add the cracked wheat. It would be a personal choice. However as a traditional cooking and recipe for this dish specifically, people have been using cracked wheat In Halim for many years and our ancestors have taught us the way they have been cooking our delicious food . As I said, we don’t need to stick to what people are not confortable and do not want to use it or they do have a preference to opt for certain ingredients, that’s perfectly fine. Cooking is about what you believe would make your senses happy and satisfying. We can always have various options with using or not using certain ingredients. I’m glad you have shared your experiences with your family recipes and would love to try the way you have been doing. Thank you very much for your feedback. Bon appétit.

Thank you for your feedback and really appreciate it. Yes I believe that Halim and many other dishes have their roots from the Middle Eastern and specifically Persian cuisine. I’m from Mauritius Island and our food and cuisine are inspired and influenced by many different cuisines around the world. Beside we do our Mauritian food in our own way, however I believe that it is the beauty of cooking which brings various ingredients, spices, and inspiration over the world in a plate. Keep loving cooking. Many Thanks for your feedback 🙏🏾.

I am a 50 years old Mauritian woman and it is these unnecessary highly critical comments that now as an adult, I suffer from many different mental health problems and personality traits. I wonder if this is derived from a Mauritian thing derived in lacking in psychological education on bringing up children. It’s being passed on from generation to generation. I left Mauritius many many years ago. When is there going to be better psychological education for Mauritians not to crush each other and their children.
