@@estraextras3717 it isn't so much expensive as you think. Or, at least least, if we aren't compelling it with cheap-shit "anime". Quality modern animation, even if it was drawn completely using computer graphics, cost as an actual film with the real life action or not so much less. So, it isn't about money.

Enough time has passed that otaku's now run the industry. And most of them don't know the meaning of restraint, or the virtues of telling more human stories. I don't remember if it might have been Toriyama, but a big creator said in an interview once that he would often watch and observe real people, both in person and in film, and he would use those observations to write his characters. Now we have people who are more and more out of touch with society, history and life in general who are now in prominent roles in the industry. Just because someone is an avid fan of something, doesn't mean that they intrinsically understand what makes that thing good. That's why we don't have many thing's like this nowadays. That and the obvious intrusion of identity politics that ruins everything it touches. It's sad, but history always ebs and flows, like a guitar string. The further it is pulled in one direction, the stronger the rebound will be. Our "current situation" has gone further than it should have, and the rebound is coming. I don't know when, or what will be the thing that tips the scale, but it "will" come. Hopefully most of us will still be around for the sunrise, but just remember that it's always darkest just before dawn, so things will have to get much worse before they get the least bit better. Stay well everyone!

I love the contrasts done at the beginning (starting around 0:10) : One scene depicts the beautiful nature of life and the people sprawling, life bustling with activity, and then cuts straight to depressing yet real images : poverty, strikes against unfair treatment (if that’s what’s happening here), and later into the eventual exposure to greed by the higher class. It’s so well done and somewhat subtle!
