I can't wait for the Vampire chronicles be adapted into a series on television

Realms of Atlantis... the fact that you can't say more than "the weird one" and then just allow your facial expressions to tell your real feelings about the book, was gold. Blood Communion is so new... and surprisingly it immediately became an obscure book because of the weird one that preceded it. Nobody is talking about Blood Communion, at all. Barely any reviewers online are willing to review this one.

Seriously -- Orson Welles' 1938 radio adaptation of "Dracula" is INCREDIBLE - if memory serves -- especially for 1938, but even today. And very bold to do that in the teeth of the Bela Lugosi version which I believe had just been re-released in '38, so it was very much in the public mind. And the radio format allowed him to adapt Stoker's letter-collection format beautifully. Full-blooded and highly recommended.

I always thought "Vittorio the Vampire" would make an amazing anime, in the vein of the new Castlevania. The descriptions of the angels and vampires alone, they just screaaaam animation! Especially since Anne based them on her multiple visits to Saint Mark's monastery in Florence and Fra Angelico's frescoes. It may not be suited for a live action inclusion in the TV show, but I would pay good money to see it reimagined in that specific way since it's a self-contained story.

I did my Master's degree dissertation on the representation of female werewolves in the western canon. I also just love werewolves? I heartily recommend: - The Were-Wolf by Clemence Housman - The Werewolf/The Company of Wolves/Wolf-Alice by Angela Carter - The White Wolf of the Hartz Mountain by Frederick Marryat - The Camp of the Dog by Algernon Blackwood - Bitten by Kelley Armstrong I could go on. I love this stuff. And I love your videos!

omg! now, this is a synchronizity! just a couple of hours ago my sister and i were trying to find some fundational tales (19th century gothic mainly) on werewolves with not success. @@snowyhut5205 happily 😊 some 19th Century classics are: Wagner the Wehr-Wolf - G M W Reynolds The Were-Wolf - Clemence Houseman Hugues, the Wer-Wolf - Sutherland Menzies The White Wolf of the Hartz Mountains - Frederick Marryat The White Wolf of Kostopchin - Sir Gilbert Campbell A Story of a Weir Wolf - Catherine Crowe The Mark of the Beast - Rudyard Kipling The Other Side - Count Eric Stenbock The Lycanthropist - Catherine Crowe There was a real boom in werewolf literature in the 20th Century, but these are some classics :)

thank you so much! we are assaulting bookdepository this afternoon lol. I have a bachelor on english, and was highly into the gothic literature, bur then i went all the way to a master in viking age scandinavia and another on folklore and magic... it was more into the wendigo than the werewolf 😅 but my specialization has always been in shamanism. While my sister is specialized on Ancient Rome and Greece, focussed on the Sea People misteries and magic of ancient times. So we are super nerdy, crazy women. lol. And I am a vampire nerd and she a werewolf fan... yet she couldnt find any fundational work, and is not that much into the ya paranormal romance, which is what you can find mainly. :( she only have a beloved copy of The book of werewolf by Sabine Baring-Gould. So, thank you so, so, so SO much. Whatever you need of you need something ever, here we are, at your service. 🙏🙏🙏💙💙💙💙

The Passage is an interesting trilogy. There's some cool crypto-zoology-ish stuff, and the first book is widely considered the best. It's... I mean, based on your videos and critiques... something you probably wouldn't hate based on the strength of the writing and the ideas, and while it's a little bro-lit-y, it's not squarely or specifically military fantasy fiction. But, it is also mostly post apocalyptic and the vampire of it all is... well... they aren't outsiders, analogies, or allegories.

I'm so glad you liked Romancing the Vampire- I leafed through it before I sent it, and the detail is really incredible! In spite of your stance on AL:VH, I still highly recommend The Last American Vampire; Henry is a suitably compelling protagonist, and there's so much history packed into it (and an interesting twist on the identity of Jack the Ripper)! Love ya! Stay safe 😘

Dennis Jürgensen, a well known Danish writer (especially amongst children) has written a series about a boy and his adventures with his gang consisting of Dracula (now drinking only raspberry soda, per his doctors orders, as the quality of blood has gone vastly down), the Mummy, a werewolf and Frankenstein's Monster (I also believe they meet The Abominable Snowman?). Unfortunately the books haven't been translated into english :-(

For a newer book I'd recommend "Walking Dead Girl" by Lili St.Germain aka "Jessica Salvatori" [published 2013]. It's the 1st book in the "Vampireland" series, but the only one I have read (I don't think the others were published yet when I read this one). Its been about 6 years (and my tastes have changed) but I still remember the chills I got reading of the protagonist 1st exposure to vampires.

Werewolves never really went mainstream until 41 with the release of the wolfman. The novel that capture some of the sex appeal is the howling, that's roughly around the 80s. The back and forth between the doctor and Marsha is awesome, a fight between human and animal, and a fight between alphas. Not to mention the how Marsha portrays her sexual side, sensual and predatorial. But still, no matter what werewolves are not going to be popular as the leeches.

I read Peeps in high school and I remember almost nothing about it except that it was VERY weird (I mean, by my 15-year-old self's standards) and the sequel is even weirder. I forgot how obnoxious and snarky the protagonist is. The one cool thing I DO remember is that it's full of facts about real parasitic species that inspired its vampires. Also, the Orson Welles Dracula is (at least in part) on Spotify if anyone was curious!

It's a smallish British book, so maybe that (it's also on Audible). It's my first comment on your channel ( i think) and English isn't my first language (or second), so it can be hard to read (to be honest I don't even think that you read every comment, it would be insane), but I have a question (suggestion, idea?). I am a fan od podcast The Magnus Archives. It is not about vampires, but they appear from time to time (at least they are called vampires in Universum). They are pretty different from a representation that is most prominent in media. It's not a vampire thing, but I was thinking, that maybe with all that going around you could be interested in good horror. I am also interested in what your thoughts about that vampires could be. If you read that, thanks. If not, comment for comments god.

I read The Snow Garden several years ago (when I was in high school, I think). I picked it up because I loved The Vampire Chronicles, so I thought I'd give Anne Rice's son a try. But, to put it lightly, I hated it. From what I can recall, it was full of boring, half-assed, pretentious bullshit. I don't have a long list of books I hate, but this one is at the top. Not that I'm trying to discourage you from reading it or scare you off. It'd be interesting to hear if you feel differently. I was shocked that you enjoyed one of his other books. I hated The Snow Garden so much that I never gave his other work a try, but maybe I will now.

My problem with vampire romances, specifically human/vamp, is that if they aren't blood sucking fiends, who corrupt and destroy everything around them, why are there still people? Why haven't they spread that immortality around over the millennia outside of a small click? If they do have to cross some kind of moral event horizon to be a vampire why are we trying to ship this? Buffy/angel at least had a curse which makes Angel unique but if it's just I choose not to be, then why make this character a vampire?
