The Mavericks signed Naji Marshall for 3-years and $27 million in 2024 NBA Free Agency, using the majority of the mid-level exception to sign him. However, Mavs GM Nico Harrison still has approximately $4.4 million left to use on a free agent to help improve the Mavericks’ roster. Will the Mavs go with a veteran player like Robert Coovington or Jae Crowder? The final roster spot is most likely to go to a guard, to provide some depth behind Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving and Dante Exum. Luka likes DSJ, and would do well within the locker room. The defense and athletic aspects seem most important for the last spot. I think they can develop Hardy or even Exum to handle the ball more, and I can see how they might split Luka and Kai for a few more mins with Klay and Naji to fill that potential gap. I think they should aim for players that will keep the locker room as is or add to it, I don't think they want to risk it on Pat Bev, which is a good call.

TBH they should probably cut Lawson, use his spot to sign 1 of these on the vet min, and then just the rest of the MLE on the last spot. Like DSJ on the min and Prince with the rest of the MLE but 1 guard/ 1 wing either way

The Mavs need the third ball handler off the bench that creates his own shot and for his teammates with drive and kick skill. I would choose Dinwiddie over DSJ.

Spencer for the straight answer, previous team experience, can be a playmaker when Luka and Kai needs to rest, can shoot the ball. Prince for shooting and defensive purposes without the drama or attention.

I'd cut Lawson and give him 6.5 mil and even Exum and MAKE IT 10 MIL if he would sign a 2nd year deal where they can get his early bird rights and keep him. Don't want another situation where you get a player that is without doubt a rotation player(like DJJ) and have it only be a rental. Gotta Cook and work on now and next season.

DSJ to fill the defensive hole against top tier guards that was left by losing DJJ and Green. Marshall is a great defender but more of a PJ mold. Great against forwards. DJJ was stellar against the smaller quicker guards and we need someone to fill that role. Grimes might do well in that role but that’s a hope till we see it. DSJ is proven and would put them over the top on the defensive end. But I’m on board with Kennard over both these guys if you can land him for the price. I just think he’ll end up getting a little more than we can offer elsewhere.

4.4 mil is much better than the vet min and allows a little bigger increase into the 2nd season. They should have signed DJJ to the Curry contract with a player option. There are some good players that they should want to keep a few years instead of just a rental. Dinwiddie is fine, Saric can take Maxi's minutes and save him for the playoffs. Luke Kennnard is great for the team. be the one guy that can stretch the floor and drive(and kick) I'd cut our 2 way guy and probably Exum and add a 4 or 5 mill mil to that if he signs for a 2 year deal so they can get his early bird rights. (gotta Cook) Prince would be great but he just signed

Signing with the LeBron Lakers is almost a guaranteed stock drop to a players brand. A role players goal is to carve a niche, help a team, and wait for collection. I would stay away from the Lakers if I valued my career.

as it stands currently Mavs can't use 4.4 mil, Mavs are 2.5 mil from hard cap.
