There's an easier way of achieving the same thing. You don't need to disassemble the potentiometer! Yep, had the same problem. I tried the calibration but noticed that without me touching the sticks, the right hand one was twitching showing random forward movement. As an electronics engineer, this is a smoking gun pointing towards noisy carbon track potentiometers. The drone was also creeping forward in flight when hands off controls. Here's how I fixed it... Follow the procedure to remove the bottom plate , but stop when you've got the bottom plate off. From here you can see the two joystick potentiometers. Now all you have to do is spray a little Aero-Klene 50 electronic cleaning solvent into them, and wriggle the sticks to and fro. Using the spray method means you don't have to disassemble the potentiometer! The solvent will find it's way into the internals on its own. Do NOT use switch cleaner! That stuff has a little oil mixed into it! That'll make it worse! Stick with Aero-Klene 50 electronic cleaning solvent if you're unsure, as I know that product is oil-free. Don't over spray it just a couple of 1 second bursts on each. Get the spray straw close to the bottom of the stick where it joins the circuit board. The spray evaporates very quickly but leaves the surface very cold, and you can get a little condensation occur. Leave for five minutes and re-assemble. Nearly all RC controllers have carbon track potentiometers and they all suffer with this from time to time. Military spec drones will probably have optical encoders instead of carbon potentiometers. These are way too expensive for commercial equipment, so don't expect DJI to uprate them to these! Afterwards, the twitching has stopped. When the carbon track gets dirty again it'll need doing again, but probably not for a couple of hundred hours use.

Could you get it clean by using compressed air?
@jpdronography12 жыл бұрын
@@highwayexplorer Unfortunately not. You won't be able to get the air to penetrate the switch casing. Even if you did it won't be enough to shift the dirt. It needs the chemical attrition and freezing effect to clean it properly.
@Skorpeyon2 жыл бұрын
Kind of hoping you might have an idea, but being in the US it seems there's nowhere to get the product you listed. Any chance you might know of any other brands that might be found outside of the UK by chance, or that you might have a chemical compound or particular cleaning agent to look for specifically so I don't get the wrong thing? Been suffering from this for a very long time, but don't have any desire to dig into my controller as far as the video did. Thanks in advance for any help!

Thank you so much. It would be extremely difficult to disassemble this remote without your video. The issue is now fixed. I've cleaned all four potentiometers just to avoid another disassemble. It's much easier to tear the aircraft down than this remote. Thanks from Brazil.

Thankyou! This was exactly the video I was looking for. I just completed it on my controller and there is no random movement anymore. I hope it lasts, can't see why not. It took good courage to take those orange covers off, as I thought they'd get damaged, but it worked fine.

This worked for me. I was reading lots of forums that said to calibrate the controller, and the IMU. But the controller would always show slight inputs to the side, when pushing straight up or down. After cleaning the contacts, I calibrated and it flew perfect. I shut it down and tried again and it worked without having to calibrate again, which was not what was happing previous to cleaning. The cleaning process is by no means easy. But better than buying a new/used controller, which was the next step if this didn't work

I just did this at 1:30am. Hahaha Im so glad you made this video, I would not have been able to figure it out. I did a quick calibration test and it fixed the drifting issue! I will have to test fly it to see if it really fixed the problem. Ive been having to resort to only shooting stills as shooting video was a pain as the drone would drift side to side, or it would turn or do weird stuff. Basically it wasn't smooth for video. But now it may work fine again! :D

In my case I tried only with blowtorch and spray but it did not work, on the second attempt I was encouraged to open it as shown in the video, I was very surprised to find the interior of the potentiometer really dusty and with a white oxide, it worth to open it

Good video! I have a question, on a slightly different topic, if you can help. I use MODE 2, but I handle the movement of the throttle in reverse. So when I take off with the drone, I pull the throttle toward me. Which two of the four wires coming out of the left arm of the DJI Mini SE remote control need to be swapped to change the direction of motion of the throttle?

No special tools required, only the Philips head screwdriver, 1.5 Allen key, and Q-tips with Isopropyl Alcohol. The tweezer and the plastic picks just make the disassembling easier.

Szia Janó, remek videó lett! Nálam a jobb sticknél a jobbra és balra húzás nem megy ki 100%-ban...csak 60 és 59%. Jön is a beepelés. Ha resetelem az appal következő bekapcsnál újra beepel. A Ez a tisztító módszer gondolom a jobb stick érzékelőknél is működik. Működhet? Kicsit tartok az ilyen szerelésektől...de most inspirál a videód!

Szia Kristóf, Valószínűleg hasonló probléma állhat a háttérben. Érdemes megcsinálni a jobb analóg karon a videóban látott tisztítási módszert, remélhetőleg megszünteti a hibát. Sok sikert a szereléshez 😉
