8:26 - Fun fact - You can actually adjust the exposure on your video by clicking on the EV option on the bottom right of your controller. Once you have it nicely adjusted you can click the AE option just next to that and it will lock in that exposure and prevent the drone from adjusting it automatically. This makes for much better cinematic shots where the ground still has a good amount of detail and the sky isn’t too bright. Hope this helps and makes it to your next video :)

I remember flying over this area as a student pilot. It sticks out like a sore thumb from the air. It's been there a LONG time. I imagine there had/has been some illicit drug related air traffic going in and out of there as well. I think you can get around the line of sight rule by bringing a spotter and placing them just outside your sightline and maintaining walkie talkie contact.

Another nice spot to fly! If in the future, you confirm that the directional finder has a slight deviation, the explanation could be: The software obtains the GPS position for both the drone and the RC, then calculate the direction to point; MAYBE DJI didn't add the "Local Magnetic Declination" to the equation, or it is using the map with Magnetic North instead of the Geographic North... if the direction error is the same as the local magnetic declination, it would be explained... gonna try to check that on my Mini too... I never went too far to notice that 😅

Hi, another great video. that's one huge housing estate. It is good to see how well it performs, have ordered range extenders for mine. Trouble is we're in lockdown now in the UK, except for essential shopping, exercise and medical appointments. Hope you can keep flying for a while longer, gives us something to view while imprisoned in our homes.

I have to say, that's pretty crazy, and sad. I was shooting some properties up in Beryl, UT. That was a town that had roads carved out back in the 1950s, but now is so overgrown, it requires a 4x4 with high clearance to get around. You should check that area out. It's pretty interesting.

I'm having the same issue with the radar indicator not accurately pointing towards the drone. I looked into it and it seems like the problem might be due to the phone compass needing to be calibrated. You can do it in Google Maps by hitting your location marker. When I calibrated mine it said the compass accuracy was low so that may very well have been the issue. Haven't had a chance to see if it fixed the problem though. Anyway, keep the videos coming! Really enjoying them! :-)

You're not far from me if I have the right spot in mind. Nearer me are a couple of very large sites just like that, huuuuge swaths of cracked up pavement and overgrown lots. Awesome places to fly and usually full of curiosities like graffiti and the occasional mess of beehives. Edit: Ooh yeah I found it right away. That's a bit of a drive for me but wow, that's a nice spot.

Interesting video. If this is Rotonda Trce, Placida, FL - and it looks to be based on Google Maps imagery and your video - you're within 2 miles of Coral Creek Airport, FA54, airport. You can even hear a plane fly by at 11:30 in the video. I'm surprised airmap didn't have a geo-fence around the airport.

Your orientation indicator is off because your phone compass is off. Before next flight, Re calibrate your phone compass. Have it open and do a calibration rotation dance like you do with the mini. Three times around horizontal axis then three times around the vertical axis. Then actually compare it to what you know is true north. You may need to do a few more "waves" in figure 8's to get it to properly indicate north. Then start your flight. Provided your mini is also calibrated. Your on-screen orientation will line up with what you are seeing.

Looks like your antenna / extender is pointing downward and not at the drone. The extender makes your antenna directional not omnidirectional so to get the best range you need to point the reflectors directly at the drone.

Nice video! Interesting place to fly. That is crazy that they built that many roads - seems like they would have done it in phases. Is that part of the nearby Rotunda Tace golf community? Looks awesome. Heard a plane in the video and I saw a small airstrip on the map. Be careful flying in the 400ft range that close to that airstrip. That is a situation where it would be nice to have a radio so you could listen to CTAF.

Hi Miles, I've been watching your videos with the new Mini. I recently changed my previous Air (I was thinking exchanging fot he new Air2 but the shop owner convinced me that the Mini would be enough for what I do - small travel needs, not a pro) and I've tried to fly it sometimes. I confess I was a little bit afraid of doing in it because of the wind and the fact it is so light. all your videos show a very cool approach to all of that, and you keep an amazing calm regardless the lack of signal, or wind. I like your approach, lets see if I get inspired because at the moment I still don't have the same trust I had with the previous Air. Cheers from Portugal.

Yikes! Good shooting, but that's the worst road paving job I've ever seen in my life! My street was first paved 50 years ago, but it's still looking good today. At 11:22 a plane just passed overhead. Did you see it in time to do an evasive manuever in case it was heading directly towards your drone? I once had a similar situation, I dropped from 350 to 200 feet as fast as I could.

dgretlein It basically means that if you’re in an area where flying is restricted it won’t let you launch your drone but if you request an app (Air Map) and you get confirmed it’ll give you clearance to fly.

The first few times i flew mine the arrow was more or less in line. Slightly to the right. Now it's all over the place. At times it says its directly behind me when i know i'm facing it. Now i have to spend money on range extenders. 🙄 With all that water looks like a nightmare with a big rain event. Had mine up yesterday. Was hovering in a spot for a bit. Mud Marten birds started swarming it. I could see the birds on the camera swooping all around it. I figured they were going to shit can it. But they just seemed curious to what it was.

Why in P mode instead of Sport if you're mainly trying to fly fast? Also I think you'd get better reception if you had the antennas straight up instead of 45 degree angle? I read antennas should have the flat side facing the drone as much as possible, your angles looks like the flat side is aiming towards the ground.. instead of the sky. Then you you wouldn't have to be holding your arms up and out as much either. Fun vid to watch though and makes me want to take my drone out and find rad places like you do.
