Max Schmeling must have been blessed with great genetics because when he finally retired from boxing in his early forties after tough fights with guys like Bear,Louis and Sharkey he had all his marbles and lived until he was 99 years old. Schmeling was also an intelligent man becoming very wealthy after owning several Coca Cola distributorships in Germany.

That's correct since Ali, for a fact, knew no one made even midcard fighting like these novices in the 70s. And then the wacko said how Ali said rock was better than frazier when Ali was just being humble; anybody knows that with good vision, Joe was way more advanced. Yet Ford was in the same era and fought guys who had the same advances as others in the same era. He kept speaking on rock only instead of the other people in my video, as if all these guys didn't all have the same novice like tech and flaws; these people just are really crazy and slow. I have seen multiple odd comments saying to others's and myself how we don't know what we are looking at as if we are blind. The videos are grainy, yet people can clearly see the movements of these guys and have for years. Trainers say otherwise. Have we ever been in a match? Watch a breakdown of highlights. The oddest one of them all: if the video were recorded in higher quality and upgraded to 60 fps, it would show these fighters' advanced angles, tech, timing, and defence. Is that true? By upgrading the video to 60 fps and higher quality, it can magically alter them to be more advanced in those areas. Oh they said mutiple times the videos don't show these guy's as obsolete

Every fight that I see of Max Baer's, he's holding and hitting, low blows, elbows all the time, rabbit punching...he couldn't have fought after the 60's and television because he would have had so many points deducted and disqualification that nobody would know him and the Beverly Hillbillys would not have had Jr. as Jethro. Some three years later, Schmeling would have the biggest win of his career when he knocked out the great Joe Louis in 12 rounds.
@billb.51837 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I think he lost his next two fights after this one also. Maybe a draw mixed in there. The Joe Louis win was big for him, but Joe got him back big time.
@demiurgeobzen3274 жыл бұрын
@Happy Man Considering how the second fight went down it kind of did erase it. Louis beat Schmeling so bad in the rematch that it was almost hard to watch, Louis took him much more seriously in the rematch and showed that he was on a different level. No disrespect to Schmeling but Louis was a once in a lifetime phenom.
@rebelliousredneckvlogs2 жыл бұрын
@@demiurgeobzen327 I agree to an extent but keep in mind, an aging Schmelling beat a prime Louis who had beaten the best in Baer, Canera, Sharkey, Levinsky, and others. Two years later Louis certainly avenged his defeat in a very impressive manner, and solidified his legacy, but that doesnt take away from Schmelling being the single man who took out perhaps the greatest heavyweight of all time in his prime (while past his own prime no less!)

Schmeling and Joe Louis had great admiration for each other and became good friends. Schmeling knew that Joe was broke and he helped him a time or two in that regard. I Think Max would visit Joe, coming here mainly for that reason. It's nice to see that happen, 2 really decent gentleman.

I honestly think Baer, Louis, and Schmeling had a major part in shutting up the eugenics and racial "science" talks of the day. All three represented a major piece of the debate (Baer = jew, Louis = black, Schmeling = germanic) and all three showed the general public that any body can regardless of race be successful.
@michaelh.20416 жыл бұрын
Schmeling was a helluva tough guy. He took some crazy shots from Baer there in the tenth round. They are looping haymakers, though--very dramatic (and it's amazing that a sharp tactician like Schmeling could get caught like that, but obviously he was tired) and showy, but those kinds of looping punches lose a lot of power in transit. Compare them to Joe Louis's short, compact punches when he demolished Schmeling in the first round of their second fight. THOSE shots had legs, hips, torso, spinal column, PHYSICS behind them.
@rebelliousredneckvlogs2 жыл бұрын
Baer hit hard no less, in his hooks he did a modified version of the Dempsey falling step which basically consisted of him leaping into his punches with his front foot off the ground, thus transferring all the kenitic energy into his hand which resulted in extreme power. Baer certainly didn’t figure this out on his own, earlier in his career he trained with the great Jack Dempsey who taught him this, though it seems Baer didn’t listen to much else from his far more elusive, and scientific coach.

Max Schmeling was an oddity of a fighter. He could be brilliant, even dominating in streaks, but he could also lose fights he should have won-this fight being one. Interestingly, Nat Fleischer considered Schmelling to be an all time great. Listing him as one of the 10 best heavyweight boxers to ever live. Ranking him higher than Marciano.

Great fight by both schmeling was big hearted tough methodical and had a great right hand, but Baer as raw as his style was, was more savvy and let his hands go with more confidence, on top of that he was a big puncher with a chin, which is amazing how schmeling endured what he did
