Greed and the pursuit of power is a misguided attempt at gaining control. But nature always restores itself, and the truth is never hidden for long

I found out a few months ago that my husband had taught our children from the time they were young. “What is a human being on his own? Leopard food.”

Your premise is that selecting good leaders through democracy is the duty of all citizens and that will solve your problems - Leaving it to the management! Long before India used to have a Gurukul form of education in which all the children were taught moral studies, agriculture, healthcare, physical fitness, etcetera that are essential for survival. Afterwards they were allowed to specialize. This way every citizen was empowered and prepared for calamities and they were not solely dependent on the State

Although i largely agree with Max Brooks on a theoretical level, i find his solutions to the global problems present to be far too optimistic of the general population, how do you expect for example the American right to keep their representatives accountable for covid when they still don't believe in its existence. a democracy only works properly when citizens are well informed and educated, if you just have sheep as a population who believe everything on the internet, elections just becomes a game of which politicians and trick enough idiots to vote for them. Also the point about democracy being self-correcting, yes "The United States can always be relied upon to do the right thing - having first exhausted all possible alternatives." but if the phenomenon is exponential (such as a virus or the feel of the impact of climate) then too bad, the correct is way too slow

I was prepared for the pandemic, since 2007. Yet I got ridiculed for it. I have been prepared for Nuclear war since the same year, been laughed at for that also. I dread the day I get the Last laugh for it.
