The Acclaimed did such a great job as heels when they first took that role in AEW that I legit hated them. Borderline turn the channel heat. But at the same time little things both Max and Anthony did kept you tuned in to see more. The raps were a huge part of the equation. You’d hear that “Yo! Listen!” and you’d almost change the channel but you knew you had to stay for the punchline. Then they’d put up a good to great match and you’d be happy you kept watching. I don’t remember exactly when but there was a moment when Bowens did the “The Acclaimed have arrived!” thing and I thought to myself…Yes, yes they have. And they aren’t leaving soon. Early on in AEW The Acclaimed and Top Flight were often the hidden gems on any card. I haven’t been watching much for a while so I’ve missed a lot of their stuff with/against the Gunn family but I just know it has been great.

I think Max’ take on not wanting wrestlers in the company is 100% fair. If your competitive and then you sign a bunch of people that takes away from other wrestlers TV time. And if you keep signing people and then who knows maybe OC, the acclaimed, kris stat these type of wrestlers slowly get pushed off TV and they are all worthy of getting a decent amount of TV time every week.

I have to give Max credit for the rap. He is indeed much better at it than Cena could ever be in his wildest dreams. Cannot take that away. However, hearing the way he talks about himself is discouraging. It's fine to be confident and believe in yourself but you can't be downright delusional and nonsensical about it. He's got the young indie mark mindset that is the whole problem with AEW. You need to realistically see where you are and your place on the show. You have to be honest with your skill and yourself in order to progress. He's a mark in that sense and never shed the indie mindset. It's not professional. But then again, that's why he's perfect for AEW, a mark promotion run by a billionaire's son who wouldn't know good wrestling if it bit him on the anus.
