As a Habs Fan this still stings...I understand Toronto is his home, his Dad is a Leafs Legend...But Max Domi will always be special to me, at a time where Montreal was unfolding he put up point amounts the franchise hadn't seen for awhile and hadn't been broken till Suzuki THIS season. I think Domi is a net positive for the team. Assuming he returns to form, and is consistent throughout the season, he's going to bank points by feeding Matthews. Aside from his passing, one of the things I most liked about Max was his O-zone entries that were ALWAYS with speed. Looking forward to seeing what he puts together.

But if you're playing good defensive teams and allow them to setup their system while you're drop passing in the neutral zone, who cares if you have the puck. They should be trying to execute offense before the defense knows what the hell is going on. I hope Berube's system is advantageous to the skilled players we have.

The way Domis contract is. Tanev will be something like it but most likely with more bonuses and such. Longer term. Lower cap hit. And I do understand Tanev may not play his contract out. But that’s not really the point. The point is we get his service for the next 2-3 years. Our open window. If Tanev is still able to play after the 3rd year awesome. So now they have to fit a 1b goaltender, Tanev, 1 forward, and at least 1 more skater and probably 2 (F and D) into 12M of cap space remaining. If they can graduate Easton Cowan and another D they will be okay but if they have to dot through free agency they are going to have to use a bunch of plugs again and they will not have any depth.
