Both Super Bowl champions, both Super Bowl MVPs, both 3x league MVPs. I'd even argue that John Elway has a more favorable resume. It's not even a knock on Brees, but he's really had maybe one season where he was arguably the best quarterback in the league. People get caught up with "if you're not top 5 then you're not elite," or "Mt. Rushmore" of things. In this instance, the top tier category extends to like 7 or 8. Brees, Marino, Johnny U, they're all elite quarterbacks along with Brady, Montana, Peyton, Favre, Rodgers, and Elway. This is the absolute highest of quarterback play that has ever been played in the history of football.
