Max Payne is the only series without a single bad game in it. 3 divided people, but it felt like a natural evolution for the series to me. It is also one of the slickest TPS to come out in a long time, and since then honestly. It holds up perfectly. Absolutely satisfying combat. I'd play it more if it weren't for the unskippable cutscenes.

This game has such good attention to detail on the scenario. The early funk songs from Furacão 2000 in 7:25, the peesence of the FAL as a common rifle, the talk of the thugs that chase you down with lots of "caralho", "porra" and "filho da puta". This game is really awesome.

I'm also surprised that the loading times aren't as bad as I remember from when it originally released...

That was the only thing missing proper gore and dismemberment. And the saddest thing is, that orginally MP3 was going to have dismemberment, but R* chickened out and rejected it. The leftovers of it can be seen after hobo blew himself up saving Max (bodies laying around had modelled organs and were missing limbs and heads).
