No game or film quite like Max Payne 3 ( other than tony scott's "Man on Fire", which the cinematography was inspired by). This is honestly my #1 Rockstar game, followed by RDR2 ,which surprisingly uses MP3 gunplay and not GTA 5 ones. The writing is top tier, the maturity of a middle-aged american man stuck in a gritty humid Sao Paulo, while having the Hong-Kong action cinema style of Noir that most dumb fans didnt understand at the time . Noir storytelling doesnt mean dark snowy NYC. Hong Kong Noir is what Max Payne series is about. And that's why Max Payne 3 is close to perfect.

I never played this game past the second chapter until I was about to go off to college, and I played through the whole thing at the perfect time. I had fights with my parents just a few days before moving in, I was still dealing with my separation from my only close friend, and I was moving onto a new stage of my life feeling kind of alone. Playing this game, though-one about a man struggling to move on with his life but eventually doing so once his anguish is over-it made me realize that I was one of the people trying to build a future, not one of the people who only try to rebuild the past, as he says himself in chapter seven. I still struggled a lot in college-more with my emotions and social connections than any work I was assigned-but god, did this thing resonate with me, especially at times when I felt like "the stooge" and "the bad joke everyone got but me." I still listen to HEALTH's soundtrack on my own time constantly, and I made an analytical presentation on the game for one of my classes' finals. It's not even close to as big as Red Dead Redemption 2 (not that anything is), but as a dark, sort of psychological character piece and hardcore action game, it comes close to perfection. The move in chapter three where Max slides off the roof of the tower, crashes through the light fixtures, swings from the steel bar, kicks the sniper through the window, and shoots him once they're both on the ground is probably one of the greatest moments in any action game, movie, or TV show.

For Me The Graphics Is Aged Well. After Completing The Story Mode, I Go For The Golden Guns. The Multiplayer Was Hella Fun To Play Not Gonna Lie. Spend Many Hours Playing It. After Some Months I Revisted This Game And Try To Beat Player's Scores In Arcade Mode. Never Completed The Game On Medium Or Hard Or Old School Mode. Only Completed In Easy Mode. I Really Enjoyed Playing Max Payne 3. Never Getting Bored Of This Game.

It will probably be regress though. It's not on RAGE engine and Remedy lost their touch after Alan Wake. Quantum Break and Control were bland, generic and forgettable. I always wanted remakes of first two Max Payne games, but made by R* not Remedy. I liked R*'s take on Max Payne a lot more.

Considering that during "Max Payne 3" he was aging with the speed of VHS feature of fast-forward rewind, he seemed to kinda lost the grip -- through the plot, he was making a lot of futile moves. The only thing that can theoretically excuse all of his screw-ups is a line in the very of end of the game, where he said: "I'm a dumb move guy". It points out that one can definitely achieve something only when they admit their failures and be willing to take all the guilt for their actions. Max Payne does show it clearly to anyone by making an example out of himself. He got his happy ending, yet the costs were high.

RDR2 will always be my favorite R* game simply because of its setting and characters, but this is a very close second. It’s such a well polished game that knows what it is and doesn’t shoehorn in mediocre element to feign depth. Instead focusing on atmosphere, presentation, and clean gameplay. It’s rare now to see such a well produced game with no filler nonsense. And the soundtrack deserves commendation as well.
