*MAX PEDAL THRASH* PT 7: Full Journey on Route 466 | Volvo Gmni 2 | LJ59LWU/AL DW271 | 20th Apr 2024

Here is finally the last episode of a very thrilling series, I am pretty sure it is the longest one I have done! - but this time took a bit of a turn, I’ll tell you later. Firstly this route/journey experience easily goes in my top 10 again, as there was so many pumping things going on, and the route is really magnificent (let’s exclude where it goes through Croydon 🤣) Firstly it was so good because of the driver, I think you can tell because of the title, but he was crazy good, and he was so fast and accelarant punchy which really helped improve the experience by having an extremely good driver. Probably one of the fastest drivers I have ever had on a bus route. Secondly, what a beast of a bus it was! This one specifically had lower sounding pitch of the engine sound than normal than some other ones, which I’d say a quarter to a third of the buses that go on 466s have it. It also soundly slightly loud and growly, which was nice to experience. Thirdly, going into more detail about the route, it’s very pleasant as it starts in the rural Addington Village interchange - next to the tram stop Addington Village which is nice as I am surrounded by soothing car sounds in the distance and trees and fields surrounding me. As it exits out of Addington, it then goes through a long road with just trees, some fences and a couple houses beside me on both lanes, with a dual carriageway/highway for a bit, which then finally meets the tram tracks going towards croydon, as the road ends. Then the bus meets Croydon Town Centre, where it wasnt that nice. As it thankfully said its goodbyes to East Croydon, it then shortly arrived at South Croydon which is actually nice, and less urban and populated than East Croydon. As it left there, it then arrived in Purley area, which is decent, definetely better than East Croydon. As it leaves Purley, it then trudges on for quite a bit to Coulsdon, which is another pretty nice area, it has quite some ruralness and quiet neighbourhoods filled with bungalows. Lastly, it fought a few hills until it arrived at its destination, Caterham on the hill which is very quiet and kind of in the middle of nowhere 😂 Soon after leaving East Croydon though, I thought it was where it took a turn, as the bus driver swapped, and I thought he was going to be slow like some of the drivers out there. To my surprise though, he was actually fast, but there was also a downside to him. I think he was driving a bit too rough though, as he later on nearly collided with another car, which I sadly didnt catch on camera. Getting to the most controversial part, the driver told me to stop recording via the speaker announcement, which I didn’t even hear he was talking to me directly, so I kept recording. He then said it again, but then for sure I knew he was talking to be, however because its legally allowed for me to record, I continued. I think he might of said it a third time but he was more angry, and he said it by shouting in his cabin 🤣
So I then recorded in a way I didn’t think he could see which was good for the time being, but it wasn’t effective in recording, becuase it wasn’t showing much of the angle I was recording at. So it was getting near to the end of the journey anyway, so I thought why not just record and if he tells me off again it doesent really matter because it’s basically the end of the route anyway. So I did, and he told me off one more time, but this time got out of his cabin to tell me directly, and he told me to get off the bus, but it was the end of the route anyway, so it didn’t matter either way. In conclusion though, I still enjoyed most of the route/journey experience, and I recommend you to try the the route and try get the route with the 2009/2010/2013 Volvo Wright Pulsar Gemini 2, becuase it’s a really great bus.
