Anyone else wonder how much more potent Ruud would be if he would flatten out some shots sometimes instead of hitting everything with topspin?

It's tricky when he's been playing (pretty successfully) a certain way for his whole career. Furthermore, he can flatten his shots but he's lacking confidence at the moment.

@@doctornov7Nadal's academy been ruining players since day one. Jokes aside, there's so many players out there today playing pure spin forehands with their weird grips and techniques like Ruud, Sinner, Felix. Then on the other side you look at Dimitrov, Medvedev, Norrie and Tsitsipas and see how most of these spinners get dropped out by the players willing to get more into it and flatten their shots more. Anyways, I will never understand not going for flatter shots when the clay season ends.

@@MrMartin48705Honestly pretty stupid comment. Also not most of these "spinners" get dropped out because everyone you named is pretty successfull. Only Felix is struggling but Sinner and Rune who were mentioned are doing great and are also players that can blast the ball with so much power with, guess what, flat shots. May be unbelievable for someone like you but it's actually best if you are able to hit both ways.

@@jay_kulina i couldn’t resist 😄😄😄 it was a silly comment. Top athletes are freaking fast. Moreover, some of Purcell’s balls were predictable, which made it easier to read and reach. But yeah, i myself laughed when writing the silly reply

One of the commentators here in Norway, who is a former player that knows Casper, said he's lost a little weight leading up to this season. According to her he looks ever so slightly quicker/faster on the court now, although he's always been pretty fast.
