This was the year I came to the fandom. The year before my son was born. We knew he was coming in 2014, and I remember it as the best year of my life, and Max was there on the screen through it all. It sounds creepy that way, but the truth is, Max was screaming Get Hype and Let's Go as the soundtrack to my life then. Shine on Dood!

2014 is the year you found yourself 2014 is the year I lost everything 2014 is the year you guys saved me. I lost my car in the spring and my boss used that to let me go from a job I had loved for 10 years. He let me know I was let go the same day my nephew was born, and then 3 weeks later that same nephew passed away in the night. I was losing my apartment, I had sold all my things, all of my friends had abandoned me. I was waiting for the world to come crashing down on me. All I really had was bitterness and an internet connection. Somehow I landed on the Assist Me videos. I've never been good at fighting games and I think one day KZbin was just like "Here's a guy that might help you not suck" and that led to other videos on the channel. That led to watching streams. The final week I still had a home I was watching you guys and something funny started to happen. I started laughing again, I was still upset, still seeing the worst in the world but through sheer force of personality I was enjoying watching the stream, seeing the antics, learning the games. Then . . . the Asura's Wrath Boss Rage. "Right now the easiest thing I can do is quit" I've never had one line strike me in the heart like that, and every thing that followed. This situation, this depression, this bitterness, became my Oni and I wasn't going to stop either. Now 2020 and things are . . .better. Nowhere near where I was, I'm still living in a family members spare room, but the path is there before me. I was in a very dark place and I do not think I would have come out of 2014 alive, and there were others there trying to help but it was this channel, Max, Steve, Simmons, everyone that helped me smile again, you guys gave me back my HYPE and I won't ever let it go again. Thank You from the bottom of my heart, Thank You

I remember discovering Max's channel through the DYKG video he did on Killer Instinct. Back when they had other KZbinrs narrating them and they included links for some of their work, that was around the time Max did his Asura's Wrath Boss Rage so that was the video being plugged. I watched it purely on a whim because I'm glacially slow to branch out my viewing habits, and it was one of the greatest decisions I've ever made. Max singlehandedly motivated me to give an honest attempt at fighting games - a genre I had been pathetically ambivalent towards for years - and reinvigorated my love of video games. There were some rough spots along the road, to be sure, but Max became and remains a role model to me for being somebody who can enjoy games without grief and just being a better dude. So thank you, Max, for your years of work and all the absolutely brilliant content you've given us to enjoy. Shine on.

Man, Boss Rage was when I really got into Max. Id watched bits and pieces since I wasnt really good a fighting games, so this channel was my way of seeing cool fighting game stuff. But then Boss Rage made me see that Max also could be wildly entertaining on top of having good fighting game content. Max has been one of the only consistent channels ive always watched for several years. Everyone else gets old or boring, but watching Max is just like chilling out with an old friend and playing video games.

I definitely remember some of the videos from 2012, but I was super young at that point, but many of these videos from 2013-14 are ingrained in my brain. I remember a lot of them like they were yesterday I rewatched the Shadow Jack boss rage so many times. I didn’t realize it until you started making these retrospectives, but Max, in a way we grew up together. I grew up watching your videos, and your Internet personality developed. You’ve had a huge impact on my life, the things I’m interested in, and even in some ways the way I talk. These are some super special memories for me. Thank you so much for all the content you’ve made max. Here in the Midwest I miss a lot of the livestreams, but I always hop on twitch to watch them the next day. I’ve been watching your videos for almost as long as you’ve been making them, and I’ll keep watching them for as long as you do. Shine on Dood!

Itd be cool if we got a new MvC game with an original art/costume style for the character since the worlds are mixed and aspects collide. The base game alternate colors/costumes could be their original outfits. Kinda just want cool new designs for some of my favorite characters.
