This tool is awesome, we use it every once in a while and anyone can use it. The great thing is that you can tie strongly and quickly without having to be experienced in tieing rebar.

Hi Brian, there has been some good improvements at keeping debris and moisture out of the internal parts compared to earlier generations such as RB392 and RB395. Earlier models needed to have a tool cover for dusty/moist environments because the frames did not seal well enough. But the RB397 has a much tighter seal on the frames. If you're still concerned about moisture Max has a tool cover to fit this model available.

I got out of the concrete tilt up business back in1998. We were still using the manual drill style twister. I feel like the last guy to use a musket in the civil war and I've just seen my first machine gun demonstration.

@@prov0cative69 I made a typo. I meant to say tying and not trying. LOL Well, you knew what I meant obviously. Do you tie in the cold? I live in eastern Canada and you were out tying steel regardless of the temp. Man, some crazy days, but so many great days also. Always worked with good crews. Made some lifetime friends also. I have been retired from that work since 1997.

@@Del-Canada Yeah we do, im in Canada as well (Ontario), so I feel ya on the cold days haha. Always a deadline to meet and never enough areas to warm up. We've actually had the opposite issue this past week though where its been over 40 degrees with the humidex in September, way too hot but shits gotta get done. It's a great job though, pays great, keeps you fit, and idk about other sites but I've met so many interesting and hard working people, really seems just like a collection of competent workers for the most part in the trade, very few weak links, anyone who keeps the job more than 3 months seems to turn into a near perfect worker, its great.

We appreciate your concern. While the gears may look like plastic, they are are actually made of high quality hardened steel. They will have extremely long life so long as you use TW897A wire that has not been rusted from exposure. Rusty wire acts like a file on the teeth on the feeding gears wearing them down faster. For the longest life on the feeding gears use use Electro Galvanized or Poly Coated wire. Replacement cost on these are $81 USD per gear.

I have built thousands of cages we had some thing similar to this it, it work enough to hang bars but not secure them strong enough to be picked up by a crane they are fast and sloppy and are not consistent, but they do help screw with your buddy's water bottles
@FastenerUSAdotcom
@FastenerUSAdotcom 10 жыл бұрын
There is a tension setting on the top of the tool which increases the tightness of the tie. However, in some applications, depending on the bar size and weight of the cage it is entirely possible that the tie may not be tight enough to crane some cages up into the air. Thanks for your feedback.

Of course this tool is not the answer to all building site necessities. This is a tool for tying light rebar structures. I'm not even working in the construction field and I managed to figure this out. This is like saying your car manufacturers lied to you and didn't tell you your car is suitable for all kinds of terrain. It's basic common sense.

Here's a few things you can do to keep your tool running smooth without needing costly repairs. 1) Blow out the feeding gear channels with compressed air at the end of each day. 2) Keep the tool off the ground. Use the belt clip. This prevents small rocks and foreign debris from entering the housing as well protecting the frames from unnecessary damage 3) Using the tool properly. All the information you need for preventative maintenance is included in this video. To learn about this we recommend taking the time to watch the entire instructional video. Thanks for your feedback.

this machine will never be mass used in construction, its too delicate with its censors and dust and all that nonsense, and if you buy this machine than you have to buy their wire and supplies, the way its being done now is more cost efficient.

It is true that this tool is a very sophisticated machine and should be treated with respect, which doesn't always bode well on construction projects using concrete and re-bar. However, as we've mentioned in response to other posts there's a few things you can do to keep your tool running smooth 1) Blow out the feeding gear channels with compressed air at the end of each day. 2) Keep the tool off the ground. Use the belt clip. This is key since this will prevent small rocks and foreign debris from entering the housing as well protecting the frames from unnecessary damage 3) Using the tool properly. All the information you need for preventative maintenance is included in this video. To learn about this we recommend taking the time to watch the entire instructional video. Thanks for your comment.

Contractors don't care about neat and tight. Especially non-union rat contractors. Its all about speed and minimizing the hands that need to be hired.

We got one of these last week, I'm not too impressed with it to be honest. Hand tying produces a far tighter and neater tie.....Just my opinion.
