The chemistry between Don and Barbara (Max & 99) was great. They were fantastic in their roles. Such a funny and entertaining television series that lasted five seasons. This was an awesome pilot episode.

Funny, I came here from watching an interview with the actor who played 99, and she says she had zero chemistry or rapport with Don Adams. She says she never met him before the camera rolled and she said her parts and that was that. So odd! Lol

To 86 something is to get rid of something, reject something, or no longer available. In regards to a person, it would mean they were fired. Just looked it up and it states the slang was from the '30s. Mel and Buck certainly known it most of their lives and most likely assigned it to Max to indicate he was a highly successful but incompetent agent.

He actually never was, throughout the show, he is smarter than the Chief and 99, finding plots and deducing the suspects that both Chief and 99 were not able to, not to mention, every plan he devised to escape or capture a KAOS agent ended up working in some way, I mean, we are talking about the man who defused an atom bomb with his tie, would you believe it?

Very funny, I think The Avengers which was a contemporary British production got some ideas from here. The James Bond franchise also copied one or two gag ideas .
@hypnotised-cloverАй бұрын
The Avengers (1961) Get Smart (1965) Get Smart is a direct parody of The Avengers, I Spy, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and Mission Impossible, thanks to James Bond, spies were quite popular in the 60s. To say any of those shows got ideas from this pilot, which was produced years after all shows first aired, is silly.
@philip5940Ай бұрын
@hypnotised-clover The introduction date isn't when every single episode was produced. They span many years of production and overlap. Bond definitely copied some get smart gags.
