As an American, the FIA is absolutely ludicrous to me. One just because somebody says a curse word doesn't mean they aren't a role model. Literally every adult in the world says curse words. Two. They are currently buddy buddy with several governments around the world that utilize slave labor and treat women as second-class citizens. Yet they host races in their countries to give them advertising and PR to spur more tourism to their countries. They're worried about the wrong things and they don't actually care. They just want to look good.

This is also why I kind of found banning mazapine and the Russian Grand Prix to be ridiculous. Is Russia doing terrible things? Yeah of course they are but so are some of the countries they still host races in. So how does it make any sense? If you want to say invading a sovereign country Is worse than slavery. I guess I could try to understand the argument because depending on how they conduct themselves during the invasion maybe it could be. But I don't understand how you can condemn one country while you allow the others to continue doing horrendous stuff.

I find it bloody ridiculous that in this day and age we would censure ANYONE over an off the cuff 'swear' word. There is a vast difference between someone swearing for the sake of it and someone emoting a GENUINE feeling in the heat of passion (regardless of what that passion may be). Who the hell is FIA to tell me that I can't decide the difference for myself ? Who the hell are they to tell me what I should be offended at ? People swear, they always have, and always will - and most of the time it is when they are being their most honest. Personally, I am genuinely offended every time Sky offers up an unsolicited apology on behalf of someone. That they are forced to act so disingenuously is a slight on everyone's intelligence. If every driver swears over team radio on every race weekend, how would the fia handle all this?. They should all do it to say screw you fia, and also refuse to participate in press conferences as way of rebellion. It will then expose the lunacy of this rule. I can’t even believe what’s happening at the moment within this sport. Forbidding criticism of stewards, no swearing, no jewellery, it’s absolutely ridiculous. Focus on bigger problems.

My thing is, the FIA has effectively said that saying "f*cked" is WORSE than saying a slur. IMO if Max (and we would include Yuki on this too though he did get fined) HAD to get community service for a radio message I would much rather it was for the use of a slur than a silly swear word. I almost turned the broadcast off after they checked Max on air for "swearing" . They are not letting the personality characteristics of the drivers shine through by gagging them . Every driver interview is very cringe as they are basically manufactured. F1 is lacking characters , the way you get good characters, is to let the drivers speak there true thoughts. Then the product that is F1 will have Quadruple viewership as a result.
