Every one is saying rules are rules, so mistake is mistake. Bearman was wrong and it doesn’t matter what the result was, he was wrong, so penalty was deserved. If Max had done it nobody would have been complaining.

More luck then skill i would say! Other cars just didn't have the pace in the wet. No pit stop for Max -20 sec off his time, only Leclerc actually raced Verstappen with any effort, with others drivers just letting him go past and red bulls 2nd team waving him past. No standing start even tho it wasn't raining, cars crashing out on formation lap and following a safety car. You really couldn't make it up.... He got very lucky... if you can call it that!!

The fact he didn't crash, didn't have an off, didn't have one track violation and had 17 fastest laps despite conditions should tell you how wrong you are. It's pretty clear to me he was going to win regardless with every other driver besides the two Alpines and Max going off track more than once. They're better wet weather drivers, they grew up in places with lots of rain. They raced in any weather and it has greatly prepared them for these eventualities. It is well known by now that Max is damn near untouchable in the wet and this once again proved it. He went from P17 to P6 on pure merit in 10 laps. 5 of which were lap 1...

Hi DaveEd. Of course you are right. There are even more remarks to make. E.g.:in my opinion the rolling start was bad luck for Max and not luck. Maybe I am wrong but I think I recognize a reaction of a gambler who lost a big amount of money by betting on Lando or whoever, not on Max for sure. They have to blame some-thing/one else but themselves for their misfortune. Often elements reasonably not to be expected?(the RB is a rocket ship 🚀 ) Gambling is an addiction, which bring extremities. The reaction is often aggressive or unrealistic as if they want to punish the person who is responsible for their loss. So for sure this person doesn’t get the credit. It seems quite funny and laughable but actually it’s not. Very often there is a sad story behind it.

A side from the fact there were two inexperienced drivers on the track for wet conditions, two empty grid slots ahead giving more space to drive into, a nice new PU for Max giving better performance then everyone else and a nice new fresh set of inters giving much better grip, it was obvious what was going to happen off the line!! Making up a load of places off the start was always gonna happen for any driver, in Max's position. What also help him massively was all the time he gained back with lots of yellow flags, a red flag, no pit stop and a series of crashes and incidents. It was a chaotic, incident-strewn, wet race and it all helped give Verstappen a huge advantage over everyone else. So yes, luck was the main factor for Verstappen's vectory, with his skill as a good wet driver almost being an after thought.

@@robfer5370 Ooh I love that you bring up the inters. Lando had 3 lap old inters. Max had fresh. So, actually considering tyres need to rubber in Landos tyres would’ve been better due to more grip. They were only 3 laps old. Max got a way better start. Lando is famously bad at starts.
