Almost 800 HP from a pretty simple and straightforward big block build, that's hard to beat! This reminds me of the engine in my brother's 73 Barracuda, it ran 10.40 @ 130 MPH in a 3500 lb street car. I'm not sure exactly how much power it made but it's 12.5:1 compression, .700+ lift solid roller camshaft, Indy cylinder heads with some port work. You said "making me dream about big blocks", I'd love to see your car with something like that... That would be fun! Maybe the next engine will be a big block? LOL! Another great video, thanks for sharing! I hope you and yours have a wonderful holiday season, man! Take care and God bless!

Love ❤️ you guys. As an older guy who actually drove the Max Wedge cars I can tell you they are still the fastest affordable production cars I have ever seen. Like Tom Grove pilot of the Melrose Missile said. The 413 max wedge was rated at 415 horsepower. They didn't tell you that was at the rear wheels . True story.

I completely believe it! My dad had a 1963 Chrysler New Yorker with a 413 and 727 Torqueflight and it was a push button drive on the dash and the thing was pretty fast to be completely stock! I loved that old car with the suicide doors, so much class! I was disappointed because it was going to be my first car but the steering box was worn out and we couldn't find one for it at the time. I was later thankful that I didn't end up with it because my dad ended up giving me a 1974 Dodge Challenger for my 17th birthday. And before I got my license at 18 I found a 440/727 that I bought out of a 1971 Chrysler Newport, I rebuilt that with a mild hydraulic camshaft, tunnel ram and two 450 Holley carbs. It got a 3500 stall converter and a 391 posi. That was a fun car, 12.8 on the motor and 12.0 on a 150 shot of nitrous. That was such a fun streetcar! Especially when you're 18 and it's your first car! LOL! I'm so thankful for everything my dad taught me and also my brother who is 11 years older and had a 1973 Plymouth Barracuda street/strip car when I was growing up. So many wonderful memories cruising and racing on the street! Those Max wedge engines were definitely awesome!

@@krisjato a forgotten factor was that most of the big bore Chryslers came with forged steel cranks and the engines were balanced by the factory 🏭. Even their land yachts. Probably the reason Chrysler products were the first to offer a 5 year warranty with a 75,000 mile warranty. Cars today don't even offer that! They didn't move away from the forged steel crankshafts until the 1970's. Of course the Max Wedges didn't get that warranty as they were built to race . They did come with the warning in the glovebox stating the vehicle was intended for " time trials " and not to drive the car under wide open throttle in excess of 10 seconds. lol

I had to use a Indy single plane it’s all that’s offered for max wedge. 2 to 2 1/8 headers. With a 950 carb mine made 742hp/699tq. But pulling 1.8” vacuum from 5300 up. Now I’m wondering how much I’m really leaving on the table with too small of carb. Nice build. And thanks for sharing.

About 2.2hp/cfm and about 1.6 hp/cuin, a lot of people over look the 1250 holley, the 1250 holley and the ported long runner intake has to be at least 75 hp over a shorter intake and 4150 holley, the tall block spreads the heads apart further than a low deck block which allows longer runners on that intake. And there is about 50hp in a blueprinted block with a torque plate hone, and making that kind of power install aftermarket main caps before the block gets align honed. Any detonation will make stock two bolt main caps dance all around and the HP will push the crank right out the bottom of the block..

788/710 not bad considering the rockers are only 1.5 with a mild-ish cam. Since this is for an RV, that makes since, but I could easily see .675 lift with a more aggressive solid roller cam and with those 270 heads, probably make over 900 hp. Cool video. Few questions. Did you just use a breather cap on the valve covers or use a vent somewhere else? Is it really reasonable to say “typical build “ with compression over 11 to 1 compression? Would this engine be able to use high test pump gas because of the aluminum heads? At what point do you choose to use the girdle? I have been told it’s not necessary for the 600 HP build Trickflow kit. I currently have a 440 build with the Trickflow heads that is going to use a six pack carb setup. My engine builder had to machine mounting pads saying they interfered with alignment on the Trickflow heads using those rockers. I was wondering if you had issues? Thanks. Enjoyed the video.

In a 31-3200 # car with the right converter and chassis, an engine like this, should run at least 9.2, 9.3 at 145 + mph

Tf 270's require a minimum bore of 4.32, so you'd have to punch a 426 wedge .070 over to use em

@@angryyoutubedad6599 You could also notch the bore. Like we do on BBC blocks.

Trouble is they never fkn cast enough at a time, last time I checked there was a 7month wait, impossible to get outside the US unless you wait a season LOL, My mate here in the UK waited forever, when they arrived they went on a 500ci/ 400 and it made 720hp. To get the stuff today over here it would cost around $12K....how much there?
