It's July, 2024 and Max is still with Bruce, right now they're in Europe and at 73 he hasn't slowed down at all. As for the comments about ego, Max is one of the nicest, most humble humans.

It's really amazing to see the difference...even playing with no flash and with an arm literally behind his back, Max still does such a better version than the guy giving it his all. Mighty Max is a legend for a reason.

I think they say they can all read his mind, but Max never takes his eyes off of Bruce. With as much as Bruce calls out audibles, moves all over the place and changes pace, repeats parts of a song, etc... it is VITAL!

@@brucefredrick6229 If I remember the story correctly, in the middle of one of the songs, Bruce raised his hands and everybody stopped with no warning... and so did Max. No other drummer who auditioned did that. Apparently Max used to play on Broadway and was used to paying attention to what the performers were doing. The chemistry was also really good with Max, so he was picked out of dozens of other drummers.

It wasn't really even with Max blindfolded and a hand behind his back. He'd played that tune a million times and could do it in his sleep. This was so moronic. The twerp from ABC had no chance. I played tenor sax in a band some 42 years ago and I'll tell you, I know just where the fingers go on the instrument to this day.

Any drummer with basic chops can do what Max does, nothing special, very robotic. They stated that he's played with everybody, who's everybody? I know he's been with Springstein for ever.
