There is a US-based simulator which is supposed to be superior to DCS. It's called NOR by Meta Immersive Synthetics. It is currently only for military use, but there is some talk about making it open to the general public as commercial software. If you have any influence with anyone who might have some say in whether the public will also be allowed to fly on NOR, please put a good word in for us!
@cz75fanatic Жыл бұрын
I can see where it would be a good idea to release something like that as it provides thousands upon thousands of additional hours data. On the downside, the release is that you'd have to reduce accuracy so that hostile elements couldn't reverse the data to better articulate their missing weapons data.
@Gabriel_McMillan Жыл бұрын
@@cz75fanatic Ahhh, see, you don't know about the other upside to allowing NOR to be used by the public. The other benefit is that many of our civilian and military pilots will no longer be using DCS, which is actually Russian software, which I can guarantee you is being used to train Russian AI for 6th gen systems, and to train their own pilots on things like those defensive maneuvers that Russians don't get as much practice on. So I wouldn't worry about hostile powers reverse engineering your flight sim, because theirs is currently the best in the world. That's why NOR needs to be released to the public.
@squakinkakas Жыл бұрын
I don't think that NOR would be released to the general public as it wouldn't make financial sense to Metrea, as they also make DCS modules (Metrea is comprised of studios like TrueGrit and Heatblur, and the people who are making the Eurofighter for NOR are also making the Eurofighter for DCS)
@Gabriel_McMillan Жыл бұрын
@@squakinkakas Of course it does, because DCS will probably soon fall under sanctions. Not to mention, they could take much of DCS' market. It does not make any sense to write flight sim code unless competing with DCS was precisely what you had in mind.
@squakinkakas Жыл бұрын
@@Gabriel_McMillan What I'm saying is that Metrea would only be competing with its own products, which is why I suspect that it would not release NOR to the public. It is also possible that ED is somewhat involved with NOR, as the website for TBS went offline a bit before the announcement of NOR, which makes it seem like there is some link between ED and Metrea in addition to the devs at Metrea working on both platforms

@ 6:37 we can all clearly see the bullets passing waaaay way below your plane and it makes all of the physical sense to be that way as the shooting plane has high AoA (so the bullets trajectory will be curved downwards) and it's also not pointing it's nose above or leading your plane but lagging it's sight behind your plane. How on Earth did the bullets hit? Not visually nor physically! It's just a decades unfixed bug in DCSs servers (lagg maybe to blame idk but it's always there) and if people don't address it, it will be there to forever stay. In all other combat flight sims, the opponents hit me only after pointing their nose accordingly well ahead (lead) on my plane's trajectory (logical) depending on speeds and geometries in order to have the bullets land on my plane, but no, on DCS servers you can spray the bullets perfectly on your enemy and have none simulating a hit or just miss them badly and then go a WHOOOT?... as you see your target in flames and it simulates that you hit when in fact you never hit it visually fact which is also confirmed with TACVIEW ACMI. Done TACVIEW vs DCS own recording comparisons for this issue many times and confirmed that TACVIEW shows the truth that the bullets pass well by while DCS simulates that they hit=).

It involves a ton of knowledge on your missiles' capabilities, how much your own country knows about enemy missiles, and timed actions that you REALLY don't want other nations to know/exploit. USAF, US Navy, USMC fighter pilots have sworn not to reveal nor teach anything technical, not even revealing at general level on how the actual avionics work especially if Max Afterburner flown the F-15E that refitted with AESA radar, how its MFD, RWR, HUD work won't reveal. DCS unable to give us 4.5th generation teen series fighters until now because of this. He would secretly played DCS but won't reveal himself. well, to be fair most of the dogfights are not realistic, in most modern aircraft you could just take a more boring stance and maintain distance and give the enemy absolutely no chance of engagement, like in a BVR fight against a less sophisticated but still in service aircraft, like an F22 versus pretty much any 70s-90s aircraft. A lot of it is up to chance and guesswork, you don't always know what your enemy is going to do or how experienced they may be, a rookie can do something unexpected that can throw off a more experienced pilot, and vice versa of course. It is sort of like a blind game of chess in a way.

i had an idea to make an rc drone aircraft years ago that had variable inlets and outlets for the incoming and outgoing air/thrust. but i wanted to mix it with something like a biplane... thou not with a wing in front and one in back but in front and back of the fusilage, offset with one slightly higher. oh and it was a 1 engine idea. the idea thou was to put the wings on rotating drums to allow them to either be locked in place or to rotate so as to allow the body of the aircraft to move independantly of their angle in providing lift. idk if that makes sense... basically you could fly it like a biplane, with 1 wing abof the other and the body pointing straight up or straight down... because the inlets and outlets would also move to keep their flows/forces (thou reduced, since it isn't optimum in that configuration) anyhow i figured it could help keep targeting and other systems in some way if not change the angle of attack for lets say a gun... idk if a missile could be launched in that configuration. well ya i wanted to make an rc of it to test it... for potential larger scale systems. idk what the g forces and such would be anyhow. i'm a dreamer and a thinker, so its just an idea i had years and years ago. i don't have the ability to actually make one, but eh its a dream right. peace. sorry, i wanted to share.

Sorry sir, it's not the FCSs "strength" (whatever that means) that keeps your plane controllable, it's the deflections angles and surface areas which create the net force needed to get the wanted moments about the 3 axis. All that the FCS can do is to help deflect your surfaces in order to dampen unwanted moments around the plane's axis or preposition certain surfaces to certain angles according to your inputs in order to not get into a dangerous AoA-Beta combination, but can't do anything magical. It's not the FCS that keeps it flying, it's the pilot's skills plus what can physically be possible! That story of an F-15 with a complete wing missing is a hoax first of and can be proven by good knowledge engineers who know their stuff that not only it would've been pretty hard to maintain 1G at even low AoA and weight, but impossible to land (requiring higher than 5 AoA). The rolling surfaces areas and deflections wouldn't be enough to keep a zero rolling moment even at full aileron deflection. Let's think with some logics and common sense, not lies.:) My regards!
