Very nostalgic! I'll never forget 1818 N Halstead 🙂 I'm headed back next weekend and I'm looking forward to visiting some of my favorite spots. I also loved all the throwback pictures and videos, especially Aggie as a city dog! Looking forward to the next one 🌭🍕

Chicago is like a textbook city. It's got everything you need. The fact that it sits right along Lake Michigan giving you access to beautiful shoreline is the icing on the cake.

Chicago has 77 neighborhoods, soon the “78” is soon to be added on near Southside. Most native Chicagoans don’t live in these areas, they are populated with transplants (for most part), get farther away from the lake and will experience more of the local haunts. There are many neighborhoods where houses have yards, particularly on far NW and SW sides, some quite large lots.

Nice video, but I’m curious where you got the number of 178 neighborhoods. The city only has 77 neighborhoods and there is about to be a 78th. Were you including all of the sub-neighborhoods?
@Kludgzenjammer
@Kludgzenjammer Ай бұрын
Yeah, there are 77 "community areas" that were made official by the city government for I guess technical purposes when it comes to services and resource allocations, but there is a multitude of neighborhoods people can declare themselves within. The last "official" map of all the neighborhoods in Chicago was made back in the 1990s using small samples of people in each relative area, then drawing up compromised boundaries from there. Now, that 178 number is unique to me, that may come from that 1990s map or a list somewhere, but the number sounds reasonable enough to me, especially if they may be counting historical districts.

Milwaukee Ave and Grand Ave are two more diagonal streets. Grand is due east and west from Navy Pier to Western Ave, then it becomes diagonal. My favorite street in Chicago.

I'm a real Chicagoan. Born and raised. My mother and her mother were too. Thanks for appreciating our city, but there's a real difference between people born and raised here and transplants. You live along the lake for the most part amongst other transplants and never meet native Chicagoans !

The best part of NYC video tours is they never feel the need to compare themselves to Chicago because they don't care about Chicago. This tour would have been cooler and had more appeal outside Chicago Homers if it wasn't sprinkled with shade. It's giving inferiority complex.

It seems to costs of living are rising everywhere, but it definitely seems accelerated in major American cities. We were surprised how much more expensive everything was even compared to when we lived there

@@MaxandSidneyI almost always used to get a beer or 2 when going out for the occasional bite to eat, when you could get a pour for $5-6, not so long ago. Now, I rarely order beer as prices have approached the $10 territory (I've had to tighten my budget, too). I suppose I should hunt for happy hour deals to enjoy a reasonably priced beer though.

Just got the reassessment of my property on the north side -- up to $1,000,000, a 26% increase. We can assume the property tax next summer (2025) will also be up 26%, or $21,000. Chicago is indeed changing. Kiss the middle class and the middle restaurants goodbye. There will be nothing left but multimillionaires and the public-housing poor.
