6:36 To add to what Daria says, Malaysia is host to more than 7 million foreign workers from about 15 countries - those from Indonesia, Bangladesh and India being the top three. That's a very high number of foreign workers - equivalent to 22% of the population and 45% of the workforce.

But for me lthink is more than the number lthink around 15 to 20 million foreigners in Malaysia because some of them they came here then lost but not lost actually theyre still here and dont want to go out from Malaysia .You know Malaysia is a gold mining here.

Well said! I visited KL back in July. As a New Yorker, I immediately saw the similarity KL and NY shared: the diversity of people. The difference is its much more tone down and calm in KL, even during their New Year's eve, with tons of people out on the streets but the energy is much more relax. Really enjoyed my time there!

Daria is definitely brilliant! So much wisdoms and attractive charisma from her speech and experiences. Very impressed on how interpreter can stretched out to even being a surgeon & helicopter pilots interpreter up to the point of she can confidently claims that she might fly one. Plus, to know both sides of the speakers' cultural appropriation, differences, and even literature (Confucius, poets, etc), that is very difficult! Ultimately, it takes a flexible and understanding person to be this open and viewing world in various perspectives.

On the subject of food, a lot of Malaysians have this mental imprinting from young that the best or most original foods are from where they originated from or grew up. Hence whenever they return to their hometowns, they will make a pilgrimage to their favorite food stalls and restaurants just to eat their favorite foods. Since Malaysian recipes and cooking styles are very diverse, the same food prepared by one restaurant could have its own distinctive taste and flavor, which other restaurants are unable to replicate. So this is why Malaysians will usually have their favorite nasi kandar, char kuey teow, asam laksa etc stall. You are correct in saying that distance will not discourage the average Malaysians from traveling across town or state just to get a bite of their favorite food.

Its not easy and maybe not welcome for western to work in local companies here. But at another part, Malaysians always look a bit high to western or developed countries peoples. So the best way to work here is open busines in own country. Later just open branch here to joint & cooperate with local business. Which actually later took over the local business. A bit cruel but actually already done, not by westerns, but open secret did by others asia foreign workers here. For those foreign workers, especially in food industry or constructions, normally they already run own business after 15-20 years. It maybe hurts for local, but its reality and so far nothing much actions local or government about it. Even maybe not actions at all.😏

Hi Max, I have been watching your videos lately and I like that you have a unique voice from an outsider about Singapore or Malaysia. I do have a suggestion you may want to consider : It would be nice if you let your subject introduce himself or herself like “ Hi, my name is xxxxxx and I’m originally from xxxxxx and I have been living in xxxxx for xxxx years. “ . When viewers have a basic info of the subject‘s background, they will appreciate the comments and opinion about the country he or she is currently living in, as compared to their homeland.
