Standards of living in China is at least 20 years ahead of the US. China is an orderly country, very clean, addictions and homelessness is unheard of there, low crime rate, cost of living is low, everything is so cheap there 😂 and I love roaming around all the big malls in Shenzhen, food is everywhere, affordable and abundant, so of course I choose China 🎉.

In China, Westerners are a specially treated group. If something belonging to a Westerner goes missing in China, the police will quickly help you find it. But the Chinese will not receive such treatment. "一等洋人二等官三等少民四等汉" Even Chinese women want to marry Westerners. Of course Westerners are very happy in China.They want you to take them out of China 😀

I’m Singaporean. I first visited China in 1997 till now 2024. It was a totally different China back then but already it was a sleeping dragon beginning to wake up and take the world by storm. Today China has transformed so much and flourished by leaps and bounds. Many have walked out of poverty and standards of living have improved so much. In fact they are doing better than most countries . I visit China often and always look forward to go back because it’s so diverse and fascinating. There are a lot more potential for growth in many aspects. They have the vast fertile lands, state of the art technologies, great infrastructure, digitally and IT savvy, hardworking and very talented people, always hungry for new technology and creativity. The Chinese minds are sharp and nimble. They have good entrepreneurship capabilities and are very resourceful. They can think of ways to work against the odds and survive even in the most undesirable situations. That’s in their blood since centuries back. Do not underestimate them.

I'm a Canadian who's spent half of my life in Canada and the other half in Hong Kong and I've seen the changes in China since the 1997 handover. I can say I'm 100% agree with what you said about the misconception and the impact from the media. Many of my colleagues are from Europe and they are very surprised to experience that you can be on the streets at midnight and still feel safe without worrying about pick pockets etc, largely due to the CCTVs have deterred these petty theft. They're even more surprised that in Guangzhou if you're in cab and stuck in traffic for over 15mins, the cab automatically calls in the police to sort out the traffic jam, it's fully automated without any intervention from the driver. That you can literally buy even street food just with a digital wallet and scanning a QR code without any physical cash. All these are unheard of day back in the 80s. Also many people seems to have forgotten that why US enjoyed such a prosperous time back in the Bill Clinton era was due to China being the world's manufacturer had taken up all the cheap labour work so that people in the US can enjoy such high standards of living because the goods are cheap, referring back to your iPhone example. Thanks for sharing your experience and trying to promote a more accurate view on what China is really now and how things have changed. Keep it up!

I think US is a place you can do whatever you want, but nothing is guaranteed. China is a place you play nice and be hardworking and not entitled, you will likely be alright. I’ve lived in China since 2007 and fully agree with Cyrus’s comments about the country. As an Australian, I can confidently say I enjoy living in China far more than I ever did in Australia. Australia, along with much of the world, has completely misunderstood China. In my view, the Western world feels embarrassed by what China provides for its people-things that many Western nations fail to offer their own citizens.
@arthurlincoln9093
@arthurlincoln9093 3 ай бұрын
Your comment is odd since more Chinese and other foreigners want to live in Australia than China. You moved to China and ten Chinese took your place. Why? Because these people prefer Australian liberalism and respect for the individual instead of the dead hand of the CCP where censorship, control, repression and a complete absence of justice are the norm.
@freespeech8293
@freespeech8293 3 ай бұрын
@@arthurlincoln9093 Bullshit...! You're full of yourself. Have you even been to or lived in China...? The reason some Chinese move to other Western countries is because of a misconception that life in Western countries is better than China. It's a point of show off and social status to go abroad. They look down on themselves and put the West on a pedestal, since they've always been put down by the West as a race or culture. They give up their Chinese citizenship for an illusion and a mirage of what has been advertised by the West. They lose their Chinese citizenship and can't get it back. Besides economy, standards of life, social standards, and social services, democracy and individual freedom have also deteriorated or disappeared in most Western countries. Australia, United States, Canada, and just about all of Europe showed their true face by their heavy handed treatment of their citizens during the Covid pandemic. Police rounded up the citizens by force in Australia. "No jab, no job," was practiced in United States. Similar policies were adopted in Canada, UK, and the rest of EU. You dare to talk about individual rights and democracy in Western countries. You're anti CCP, but pro propaganda producing and war mongering Western Capitalist countries, where the rich gets richer, the poor gets poorer, and the middle class is disappearing. It's a modern-day slavery in most of the Western countries. While freedom and democracy has been sold to the public as a bill of goods. The West has ruled by lies, bullying, wars, and colonization of other weak and peaceful countries. It's not your fault for saying what you say. You're brainwashed by the system and addicted to their disinformation, lies, and propaganda. United States and the rest of the Western countries have their own forms of censorship, control, repression, and injustice. Since its done so deceptively, you don't recognize it, and if you do, you're too helpless to do anything about it. You're either genuinely clueless, or too young to know any better. Either way, you have a lot to learn. In the meantime, enjoy your delusional reality.

@@arthurlincoln9093 Balderdash. 120 million Chinese leave China on vacation every year and 120 million Chinese return. They visit other countries and realize that their lives in China better than the average so why would they leave. The censorship, control, repression and a complete absence of justice are actually sadly the norm in the West and far more severe than in China. The average Chinese couldn't afford to live in Australia but could live well and safely in China. People immigrate for many reasons. Do the math if all the ethnic Chinese moved to China and ten times the amount of mainland Chinese took their place there would be 14 million Chinese in Australia which would be 50% of the the population and only .01% of mainland Chinese population just to show how insignificant Australia is to China. Australia's resources could easily be sourced elsewhere.

Cyrus Janssen. Your success model is a symbolic model of how people from diverse cultures and race should embrace shared learning and respect rather than placing one-self above the rest, and that's how the imbalance arise between current US & China relationship. Congratulate you for being outwardly spot-on to venture into China at young age and cast a remarkable journey that you'll never forget till you aged. Your encouragement for more American young people to replicate your journey is encouraging and if you could add a portfolio to lead them to China to start anew a life where you started, you would have been a great ambassador to bringing world peace and joy. I have been dealing with both the US and China for twenty years. During the GFC the US completely screwed me, almost making me bankrupt. What they did was illegal. I lost six million dollars because of their bullying and illegal practices. The Chinese business partners on the other hand helped me...they still are helping me. China has never asked me or any of my countrymen to fight for them and has never attacked my country. History shows they have mostly been at the wrong end of the sword.

Singapore is great!!!. They have a good leadership and PM. They are not 1.3 billion poor and not a Industrial nation. It is a financial huge with lots of foreign companies. Singaporean are smart, a small county don't want to a proxy of anyone. Focus on Money than Military. However, I don't understand some people say no freedom. What does that really means? Absolutely freedom is contradictory to laws and enforcements. How would Freedom apply to family community and company business policies. Could those people give some real good examples because I live in a democratic Freedom country. We have free guns and gun control, but most students got killed and they're innocent get killed. We have freedom of speech. we used that to say F..k the president, govt, polices, mother/father and brothers. We don't like walls but we have hundreds of military bases over the world. the biggest and the most advanced Arsenal around the globe. We have good social programs for illegal immigrants, for robberies and murderers, but the citizen cannot retire and the business forced to close. We say college students are our future but they cannot speak the death of innocent people in Gaza. They got arrested, jailed and Congress passed a law just for that. We love our environment free trade and competitions, then we pass sanctions, we increase trade tariff, we blocked Huawei, tiktak, import eCars in the name of security and buy more oils so the rich continues to gets richer Because we say we are democratic and free nation make us good therefore others are bad and dictators? Is the definition of Communist b/c is the election system is different, by State representatives vs Buy votes with interest campaign donations. Now a day I am so confuse with media and so people just throws words or opinions just basic on feelings regardless is right or wrong. Just like at the mirror, there is a reflection of you, another human being from the half side of the world who is less fortunate and try to survive and find dignity at the same time. PEACE.... You just described exactly what the American government's hypothetical policies are all about. They act against their own good policies and end up creating destructive laws and policies. It's a complete hypocrisy. They keep shooting themselves in the foot, and finally will end up shooting themselves in the head for making stupid decisions. They're not happy to see other countries prosper, unless they're the number one and in control. They want to colonize the whole world and bully them into submission. But the Chinese should unite and not give them that satisfaction.

I have corrected them that the clothes are of reasonable or good quality, but affordable due to massive, mainly automated production in factories and a good supply chain. I have further explained that there is no forced labour in China, and that people have been lifted out of poverty and live a much better life than before, benefiting from improved infrastructure and communication.

CYRUS IS VERY DIRECT, HONEST AND ACCURATE ABOUT CHINA / US RELATIONS. AND WHAT HE SAID THAT MOST AMERICANS DON’T EVEN HAVE A PASSPORT AND DON’T EVEN KNOW MUCH ABOUT THEIR NEIGHBORING COUNTRIES ARE FACTS. DIFFERENT COUNTRIES HAVE DIFFERENT CULTURES AND TRADITIONS. IF YOU WANT TO HAVE A STRONG OPINION ABOUT ANOTHER COUNTRY YOU SHOULD FIRST TRAVEL OUT OF YOUR OWN COUNTRY FIRST. TRAVELING IS THE BEST EDUCATION.

Only a third of 360 million Americans have passports - so 120 million citizens have it as their proof of identification. And now the era of low-cost airlines and hybrid airlines made travel possible

Regardless of how you feel about the U.S. and China, it's in everyone's interest in this global world that these two countries get along for the sake of world peace and prosperity due to their dominance worldwide. I am not a fan of these two countries per se but I want them to get along for the reasons I've stated. I think everyone would agree with me.

It's amazing how one person can have a radically different view of China from Serpentza just by living in a different place there and having their visit supervised by the government. This guy was just lucky to live in the upper layer of China...

He acts like there aren't work camps with organ harvesting and people just disappearing overnight if say annoy someone in government. He makes it sound like living in China is utopia. I have Chinese friends, they're used to it, and it's just fine. For me, Europe is too repressive and the US is quickly becoming the same.

wow, he is so right about really knowing your country by staying outside for something, at least two years or more, my experience is when I went to Australia, the first year was amazing because everything is new, different or novel, then, by the second year, it starts to become routine, the climate and job becomes the main focus, comes third year, I am starting to question if I want to stay forever, to really know the difference, one has to come back to the home country yearly, this will prevent the acclimatization ( like a frog slowly boiling in the pot" too soon and so the difference become a lot glaring. after five years, with a big, landed home, visited lots of places around, I begin to realize that even though Australia is like heaven with open spaces and cheap homes (as compared to Singapore), I still prefer the constant topical climate because I cannot take the seasons and the convenience and closeness of everything, so I traded my landed home and slow life for a pigeon in the sky and the hustle and bustle of semi city life back in Singapore. I do miss Australia, but I can visit anytime. actually, where is home may be different when one is young and free, married with children and old but free and easy.

What a great programme Max. Cyrus spoke his heartfelt feelings about the US-China relationship. Indeed, the US should not externalise its own issues but deal with it directly. China is not and has never been the problem to the US. Cease the escalation and bring back the good relationship for the sake of the well being of this world.

Let me help you elaborate. Culture: steal intellectual property, hack, behave rudely. Discipline: cut the queue wherever you can. Unity: oppression of minority Uyghur, Tibetan. Friendly: have territorial conflicts with every single neighbour. Cleanliness: urinate and defecate in public places. Now can you go on.

Cyrus, this has be one of the most educational and honest interviews ive seen about China and life in general in recent times. As someone having studied Mandarin for 14 years and traveled to China 4 times, my most recent trip being in early August, i am just blown away with thier infrastructure and transportation system! WeChat is another achievement in itself too!! I'm currently teaching English in South Korea but defiantly will relocate to China either next year or by 2026 the latest!
