I was surprised that Scar wasn't all the way up there with Grian and Mumbo; most of the fanart and animatics I've seen seem to focus on specifically those three quite a bit. He's probably sort of a hidden gem situation; he may not be quite as popular in the wider sphere of KZbin, but anyone who's in deep enough to be making their own Hermitcraft fan content falls in love with him.

I like him and his interactions with the other hermits, but his video editing style isn't as much to my taste which I think could be one of the reasons he doesn't have as many. I still watch some of his videos on occasion, though. Similar situation with doc, he's great, but his videos tend to be an intimidating length and different editing for them could potentially cause more people to be interested in subscribing.

I feel it’s the ease in which mumbo and grain content could be seen. I don’t know much about Grian but mumbo was a really easy to understand redstone builder and with how viral those creations go I feel like it’s easier to have an audience that shows up for a few vids and then leaves

The way Mumbo starts off sort of humbly at the bottom, and then at some random point just absolutely SKYROCKETS and DECIMATES everyone else's numbers. And then the way Grian follows suit and they trade back and fourth several times before becoming far and away the two most subbed hermits. It's not even a contest. Those are massive numbers.

Everyone was just chilling before a wild Joel appeared and takes the ranking by storm. I love how Mumbo and Grian swiftly grew together and stole the top two spots, and Mumbo gained a bit more, yet Grian always stayed close be hinged. In my mind I just picture them hanging out together, in the usual Mumbo-Grian fashion, and Grain pretends to leave, but is actually just hiding a little ways away, observing the Mumbo in its natural habitat.

I love how Joel has absolute dominance in the start, Etho takes over with a few others, and then Mumbo and Grian just start blasting off in a pretty tight race, and then Mumbo goes ham in 2019 and Grian slightly less so, and then Grian just explodes in 2021.

A discord friend and I actually counted down the amount of subs left to 100k starting from 99.1k and were both so hyped when he hit that number! Well for Etho if you didnt watch his channel back then it might be really odd but you have to remember back then he was putting out tons of content mostly Minecraft. 2013 also happened to be around when the OG SMP MindCrack was really starting to hit its stride with seasons 3 and later 4. Etho was brought on the SMP as he was very big and well known channel at the time for his original Lets Play world and his current one which he started back in 2011. He was also doing CTM maps series at first alone but later with others eventually ending up with Team Canada which they still make content to this day (hopefully their current series was just on a month break due to other issues). Basically him hitting 1 million around 2013 is surprising but also not surprising at the same time as this is where he was hitting his stride and it all clicked. One reason why he also keeps his fans along is he largely does not change too much and it is easy to see when looking at his channel description, videos, and for the longest time page with the other channels which were all back when he was still on Mindcrack (though it is no longer there.) His Mindcraft videos for the most part have the same Thumbnail style which is a simple screenshot from the game and while many outside see it is out of date that is just what he does.

Sadly wouldn't make a difference in this scale, although makes all the difference to him. He went from 88k to 100k but he is still the smallest hermit sub wise. Pretty wild how hard it is to inject your audience in someone's channel, he hangs out with a lot of the bigger hermits on stream and life series for a while now.

Mumbo really went from smallest member on the server to biggest member, he'd probably be even bigger if he did solo series and didn't take huge breaks as often but he's doing great and still taking care of himself.

Really cool to see when each one found their groove. Joel, Gem and Pearl definitely jumped with the popularity of Empires. They all gained ground during the pandemic. Really great crew this season. Will be nice when we get to see Skizz’s bar climb!

Pearl and Gem joined empires at the same time they joined hermitcraft so their boost is probably more hermitcraft related or a combination of both. Empires and hermitcraft 8 started halfway through 2021, so I doubt the pandemic really had an effect there. And Joel has been a huge channel for over a decade

@@mcstupidly I'm also on a newish account. But once you started watching Etho back in the day, it was hard not to be loyal. His very chill vibe and interesting build ideas were inspiring to watch while you were playing the game. My build strategies are still all based on 2007-2015 Etho because that's what I was watching when I was coming up in the game. Have trouble keeping up now days with the new meta of even how Etho plays, because I've become so used to the old tricks. But everything I build even today has his fingerprints all over it. He's the OG to me out of everyone even though many of them were around and more popular even before he took off.

Etho is the best Minecraft player because he really demonstrates the real feeling Minecraft is supposed to have. We played with him for all these years and he still is going strong, steady and still has that 1st world I don't know how old it is... And still has imagination to carry on surprising us. He has a great sense of humour and his mischeivious chuckle is legendary. He's also a troll sometimes. 🤣 I think his best work is the collabs with Team Canada, Hilarious!

I love how most of the hermits are like really intelligent and stuff, and then you have grian and mumbo the dominating. I know both of them are very smart, but I’m talking about how they act while they’re playing. 😂😂 they have the perfect idea of how to be entertaining.

Iskall will always be my go to hermit (really the only minecraft person I ever watch anymore). I remember finding his channel back in season 4 when I first discovered hermit craft and I think he was doing a base in the mesa for that season with some Wild West type stuff and I remember him building a cool crane. Idk his videos just clicked with me. He had a great mix of modded and vanilla content, and his builds were usually asthetically cool and he also was relatively good with redstone and a lot of machinery mods. Specifically I remember (I think it was foolcraft) he built a really cool factory into the side of a desert hill. And he used his iskallium slime blocks mixed with some other modded stuff to give radioactive vibes. And he even made a really green looking liquid pool at one point and I can’t remember how. I don’t keep up constantly with hermit craft because it’s just too much content to keep up with and I’m not as invested in minecraft as I used to be, but I love checking iskalls channel every once in a while. Been watching his s10 videos lately and I love that him, stress, and ren are all neighbors. They all have such a hilarious dynamic and I remember ren being in a lot of iskalls old s4 videos and I loved it. Also iskall invading smallishbeans all the time is hilarious. Iskall will always be a hermit craft top g imo
