The last little monologue really resonated with me, I'm currently 2 years in to starting my own clothing store and I've maxed everything and went in with both feet to make this thing work. Because I'm scared of failing in the knowledge that I could have done more. I really hope it works out, but if it doesn't I can at least walk away with no regrets.

@@helixarim371 I went bankrupt in 2017 and lost everything under the weight of business rates rises (uk tax on business per sq ft and location of unit) 5 years of work and 10’s of thousands in personal investment gone. Worked a few jobs until I got myself straight and went back to college to study for my graphic design bachelors. I completed bachelors last of month, don’t have the results yet but I’m predicted to get a first class. I’m the graphic designer for a steel forging company at the moment to get my first job done and will be on to bigger money in about 12 months. Thank you for asking, I rarely reflect on losing the business, it was horrible, but nowhere near as bad as my mind made it out to be. Towards the end I was waking up and having panic attacks/vomiting from stress etc, so I can safely say that I am in a better place as I sit here writing this now. My credit is better now than it was before the bankruptcy even. It’s all peaks and troughs I guess.

More context to this post I went to a 4 year college after 2 years at a community college in the US. Big mistake here. I didn't think of what I really wanted in Life I just did. From the first day I transferred I hated it so I fell into bad depression. I never had or followed a passion I had in my life. I just wanted to please my Dad that never said he loved me or was proud of me. To be honest I didn't believe in myself. it was tough. I am a foreign student in the states. I left my country after my final year of high school. So in college I had no social network of friends or contacts to rely on. I just had two things God and KZbin videos. Both of which saved my life. The more I watched KZbin videos. The more I was inspired to make videos. I got so interested in the filmmaking process. Combined with my childhood interest of how things work. I started making tech based videos. So I spent all the money I saved on Camera and PC equipment. Now I have 500 subscribers after 1 year on KZbin. Now I plan to expand once again by buying a better Camera to improve my filmmaking quality. it's not all roses though. There's still doubts I got frustrated today. I started doubting myself again. I was questioning whether I should even bother buying a new Camera. But after Casey 's advice of there being good excuses not to do things. I feel more confident in my choices. So thank you Casey. People like you are the needed light in this troubled world.

Destroying a snowboard to surf the streets of New York is totally worth. What you can't do is pass the impression that everybody is going to receive free gadgets on their mail every time they destroy and old one on camera. For some people, a snowboard can be a monthly salary. A DJI drone that Casey destroys or gives away in a weekly basis costs 4 to 5 minimum wages in my country. It's one thing to take risks; burning money like there's no tomorrow is a whole thing.

The point of the story was not the fact that the snowboard was replaced. The point is that if you have an opportunity to experience something great (snowboarding in a blizzard for example) then the inputs to that experience (the snowboard) are less significant. Therefore, you snowboard in the blizzard, knowing that your boars will probably get fucked up. The fact that it got replaced had no sway on Casey's decision to do what he did, it was just a coincidence.

Most of you don't understand the title it was when he first maxed out his credit card to buy his first video camera. Logically it isn't a smart thing to do but with out risk you don't have rewards. No. He's clearly had this attitude before anyone knew his name. He quit his shitty job to move to NYC for the opportunity and to take a risk, and he got paid back for it (not with free material possessions, with experiences and opportunities to succeed.) He didnt max out his credit card because he knew someone would give him money anyway, he did it because he had a passion and an instinct and it has been 100% rewarding for him because he took the risks and the opportunities and made them work for him.
