I have this earlier generation unit and the updated model. (This model) - The knife holder did not work for my knives; the slot is too wide and the knives fall over sideways or fall back and forth. You can see by the video she has her knives angled and positioned over the little bars to keep them from tipping but they do not stand straight and still on their own. (Updated model) - Adjustable frame length has a nice locking mechanism but the side bars are no longer double braced at the base. It is just an L bar. Upgraded glassware holder hangs off of a basket and hangs well out of range of the sink. Putting cups upside down in the fruit basket is much sturdier. Upgraded/included paper towel holder is useless. It is just a flimsy vertical bar that has no base so the roll has nothing to spin on. It will lean over and as a result can't be spun without using both hands. Silverware holder is wider than most and the upgraded knife holder is enclosed and improved. The problem is the new knife holder is a basket extension and not connected to the main rack like before so your heavy knives will be blindly placed into a slot at or above eye level and be held in place by two small tabs. The silverware also hangs onto the knife holder to add even more weight to it. Both tabs fit loosely and caused my silverware/knife holders to lean. On both models the hooks are very flimsy. They are too long so you can't hang pans from it and fall with the slightest bump. They should make the top portion a snap link so the hook never falls.There are many, many variations of this rebranded Chinese dish rack. Some have better side bars, some have better knife or utensil holders, some are adjustable... These companies really need to sell individual components so we can mix and match because the basic structure of all these racks on Amazon are the same.

Best review and reply ever! Thank you so much for pointing out how similar all of the racks are. Reviews need to be about product quality, durability, and value! Thanks for this helpful insight!
@pdxmetal3 жыл бұрын
@@dalebogucki The original knife holder actually works quite well now that I understand it. It is for larger cutting knives and steak knives and they are designed to be angled and held in place by the front bars. I had to return one of these racks until I found the right one because the baskets were uneven. Maybe OCD but I ended up getting a better, more solid rack. Be picky.

I've been looking for these all over the Internet and none of them have water trays underneath them with drain spouts. Same stupid to me have water dripping all over the place. Some of it will go in the sink but a lot of it goes on the counter.

Geesh.. the electrical outlet... Btw, I think you can also move the knife holder at the back of any dish trays. Only if you still have enough space between the rack and the window.

Homegirl- you did a video about putting something together, so you should own it: hex key (or Allen wrench’) and you would use the hex to unclog your garbage disposal. The hooks on the rack would be ha su to Hang mugs or cooking utensils to dry.
@carrieblogger5 жыл бұрын
The Allen wrench (that’s what it was called) was included in the set - same thing that you use for IKEA furniture. I’m not sure that I would feel comfortable hanging a mug on the little hook because they come off so easily, but sure - you could use it for that. The design is flexible. Thanks for watching and commenting!

I feel like the water dripping down while you're still washing would be so uncomfortable (especially since I wear gloves and I don't want water running down my arm). Do you have an opinion?
@carrieblogger4 жыл бұрын
If that’s a big concern for you, then an over-the-sink design probably isn’t ideal. But if you just wipe off most of the water before you stack it on top, I really don’t think you’d even notice.

What other things could you store in it Could it store pantry items? Does it impede the use of the sink? Storing wet dishes on it sounds like more work than drying the dishes
@carrieblogger4 жыл бұрын
It doesn’t impede the sink, but I would worry about splashing water. If storage is the biggest influence, I would store dry dishes on the sink rack all the time and use the cupboard for pantry stuff.

Given the ample amount of cupboard space in our kitchen, I’m not using it currently. We have more than enough storage as is.
