Maximizing BMW PHEV charging

Hey my 45e won’t charge on the scheduled part. Just changes straight away (battery does be at 0 before I plug it in). Any ideas? Thanks for the info’

So you want it to charge on a schedule? To do that you’ll go to your Plan Charge/climate and change charging mode from charge immediately to charge in time slot. After you do that you’ll need to set up a departure time since charging and climate are linked, once you have a departure time in you can go back and set your charging time slot.

How fast does a level 2 charge the phev vs a level 1

it depends... certain PHEVs only take in 3.8kW (the 330e and 530e as well as the X5 45e) where the newest PHEVs charge at 7.4kW (that's the XM and X5 50e). All of these are faster than the standard 110V 10Amp, or 1.2kW charging of a standard wall outlet. The best way to kind of think of it is on a standard outlet, it takes a little less than an hour for every kWh of storage you have in the car... going to Level 2 is either 3 times or 6 times faster depending on which model you have.
